Breckenridge United States Navy Commanding Officer, Bravo Company Marine Corps Security Force Battalion Kings Bay

Lieutenant Christopher D. Breckenridge enlisted in the Navy in October 1990 in Slidell, Louisiana and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. After completion of Recruit Training where he was the Recruit Chief Petty Officer for his company, LT Breckenridge attended Signalman A School at Service School Command, Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida. Lieutenant Breckenridges initial tour of duty was from March 1991 to March 1994 aboard the forward deployed Amphibious Command Ship for Seventh Fleet, USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), Yokosuka, Japan. During this tour, he advanced to Petty Officer Third Class and was Junior Sailor of the Year. From March 1994 to July 1996 he served on the USNS PECOS (TAO-197) in Singapore, where he served as the Leading Petty Officer for the Military Department. During this tour, he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class and earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification also being named Senior Sailor of the Year. This duty was followed by Law Enforcement Apprentice School at USAF Training School, Lackland AFB, Texas. From August 1996 to December 2000, he was assigned to Administrative Support Activity Bahrain, Naval Security Force, for duty as a Law Enforcement/Physical Security Specialist. During this tour, he assumed positions such as Watch Commander, Security Training Coordinator and Operations Leading Petty Officer. He advanced to Signalman First Class. Shortly after cross-rating to the Master at Arms rate, he was selected as the Fifth Fleet SOY 1999. Lieutenant Breckenridge left Bahrain in December 2000 and was assigned to Naval Submarine Base, Bangor; Silverdale, Washington for duty at SUBASE Security in January 2001. During this tour, he assumed the positions of SUBASE Auxiliary Security Force Coordinator and Chief of Security Operations. In 2002, he was selected as the Pacific Fleet Shore Sailor of the Year, awarded the Admiral Claude V. Ricketts Awards for Inspirational Leadership from the Navy League, promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and selected as a Limited Duty Officer (LDO). Lieutenant Breckenridge was commissioned 1 October 2003. After completing LDO School, he reported to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) in Bremerton Washington to assume the position as the Security Officer. He conducted a Around the World Cruise to Norfolk Virginia where the ship conducted Refueling/Defueling operations at Newport News Shipyard. In July 2007 he was assigned to Mobile Security Squadron Six, Detachment 26 as the Security Officer and during realignment was assigned to Maritime Expeditionary Squadron Six, Boat Division 61 where he served as the Assistant Officer in Charge for BoatDiv 61. He also served as Commander, Task Unit 56.7.2 from 2008-2009 and again in 2010 while forward deployed to Al Fujairah, United Arab Emirates in 5 th Fleet AOR. From 2011 to present, Lieutenant Breckenridge is serving as the Commanding Officer for Bravo Company with the Marine Corps Security Force Battalion in Kings Bay Georgia. He is in charge of an elite group of Navy and Marine Security Force members conducting strategic weapons security. Lieutenant Breckenridge has received the following awards: Navy Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation (2), Battle E (2 awards), Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (3), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (8 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (5) Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (Gov of Saudi), Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (Gov of Kuwait), Expert Rifle Medal, and Expert Pistol Medal. Lieutenant Breckenridge is married to the former Dawn M. Shepard, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They have two daughters, Lauren (12) and Sofia (8).
