Provide one example each of classical and operant conditioning in your own life.

Identify either the stimulus and response or reinforcers in each case. Which type would you prefer for learning and why? Please make sure that each DQ response is between 200-300 words and contain at least one attempt at APA citations. Please use your book to cite in your response and then fully reference your text at the end of each DQ response. If there is no effort with APA, then I do need to mark down .5 from the response. Please use the citation generator at the bottom of your student webpage to plug in the information (author, year of publication, website).

Classic conditioning is defined as inducing one stimulus response by pairing it with an involuntary response. Classic conditioning has four diverse elements that were given in the reading they are unconditioned stimulus (US), unconditioned response (UR), conditioned stimulus (CS), and conditioned response (CR). My example would begin with an unconditional stimulus such being a young mother early. As a child, I learned from my mother that having children at an early age would not only hurt my child and I but the rest of my family, and my older sister was an early mother and she was my visual and physical example this was the unconditioned response. My mom telling me to stay focused on the more important things in life while my father provided the stern punishment if I strayed was the conditioned stimulus. I stayed to myself and into my homework growing up and did not mess with males until I graduated from high school. The conditioned response was that I was so scared of disappointing my parents and receiving the punishment that goes along with it. I did not have children early actually; my little brother became an early parent before me. Currently I am still childless and handling my responsibilities. This has helped me teach and educate my younger cousins on the importance of waiting until you are mature and responsible enough to have children. I enjoy learning through the operant conditioning method since behaviors are taught normally voluntary and not affected by exterior proceedings. Due to reinforcements, this type of behavior could be monotonous still sooner or later the behavior is learned. It is my belief that my parents practiced operant conditioning when I was growing up. The best grades and behavior were expected, and on some occasions very rare ones it did not occur. As and Bs meant I got to do

extra activities like stay after school to watch a game or go to a relatives house and become spoiled with all they had to offer me. Ds and Fs meant I was grounded and received a physical punishment as well as material one. Attending school after you have received a physical or material chastisement was always noticeable and unavoidable. The operant behavior was not bringing home good grades and the punisher were my parents supplying physical and material punishment. Acknowledging extremely well what the conditions were if I received Ds and Fs on my report card or gotten out of line with anyone I can count on one hand how many times this happened. Morris, C. Think about the last time you attended a lecture or were in a classroom. Applying the information processing model, why did some things make it into your short-term memory and some things into your long-term memory? How can knowing this process increase your learning potential? How would you reduce the likelihood of forgetting important information? Please make sure that each DQ response is between 200-300 words and contain at least one attempt at APA citations. Please use your book to cite in your response and then fully reference your text at the end of each DQ response. If there is no effort with APA, then I do need to mark down .5 from the response. In my previous training for work is where I had my experience. Making the appropriate decision on what information is imperative versus ineffectual information will establish what makes it to my LTM. Most information in this class made it to my LTM since we actually performed the task of creating and building a website. We were permitted to create our own website and apply our own notions, illustrations, graphs etc (schema). Once I made more pages, I added more notions and schema to the page to become more educated on capabilities of the software. It is my belief that majority of the information that was taught made it my LTM since I individually developed the site and continued to

utilize the software to maintain the site. Repetition possibly results in remaining in my LTM. Information that did not make it past my STM would consist of the names of the people that were in my class. I remember their faces but not their names. Possibly their names would have made it to my LTM if there would have been more contacts after the class ended. I usually commit information that is highly required to my LTM versus information that is not as important. I wanted to make sure that all the information that was given in the class was retained in my LTM because I know that the information would benefit me at the end of the class.
