1. Scope /Objective/Purpose
The Scope of this Method Statement covers the application of Painting. The Purpose of this procedure is to ensure that the correct methods are employed during the application of paint and to achieve compliance with the contract specifications and manufacturers recommendations.

3. Responsibilities
The Project Manager & the Construction Managers are responsible for the over all operation of this procedure & its revision when deemed necessary and to delegate the responsibility to nominated Site Engineer to directly supervise the works on site. The nominated Site Engineers are responsible for ensuring that all the painting works are executed in accordance with the manufacturers paint application procedure and project specifications. The foreman responsible for painting works shall ensure that all the painting works are as per the procedure. The QC Inspector will be responsible for painting, compliance with QC requirements, including submission of inspection request and the documentation is signed-off by the concerned parties and filed in the quality department filing system.
4. Application Procedures/Method
Work shall be in accordance with Project specification section 09900, ITP, Schedule, mockup and Approved manufacturers method statement for each paint systems. 1) Painting shall not be commenced until the clearance to be obtained from ALEC 2) Shall protect the surfaces not to be painted from paint spatters, markings and other damages. 3) All surfaces to be painted shall be cleaned from dust, dirt and other surface debris.
4) Rinse scrubbed surfaces with clean water until foreign materials are flushed from surfaces and allow surfaces to dry thoroughly prior painting activities. 5) Shall prevent contamination of cleaned surfaces before prime coat is applied and between applications of remaining coats. 6) Surfaces shall be sanded to provide adequate adhesion and to remove visible defects 7) Shall apply primer or paint as soon as possible after cleaning and before deterioration occurs. 8) Provide protection to prevent damage from droppings, over spray, wind blown particles, etc. 9) Safe access shall be provided to the location for materials and work force. 10) Surface preparation shall be checked by QC Inspectors and offer for consultants approval. 11) Paint that has been approved by consultant shall be used and apply as per manufactures application method/paint system 12) Complete each specified coat of paint on an entire surface. 13) Care shall be taken for drying time between coats as per manufacturers recommendation. 14) Finish coat shall be smooth, free of brush marks, pile-up of paint, skipped or missed areas. 15) Make edges of paint adjoining other materials or colours without over lapping the colours.
