Does the OTOA & LCN have any ties to the Typhonian Order? A: Kenneth Grant was a great enthusiast of the works of Michael Bertiaux. Both o f these incredible figures incorporated each other s work into their own. OTOA-LCN absolutely supports the work of the Typhonian Order and we maintain several unof ficial connections to this August Order. Both organizations are non-Dogmatic and support the individual charting his or her own course along a Path of deep spiri tual exploration and growth. Many students of OTOA-LCN first encountered the wor ks of Michael Bertiaux through Kenneth Grant s writings, esp. the two chapters on The Black Snake Cult in the volume Cults of the Shadow. There is a VERY strong Inner Plane link between Typhon and The Black Snake. Thes e two symbolic forms tend to be perceived as aggressive and dark forces. In trut h, the intensity of these powers is related to the Magical Formula of MANIFESTAT ION and may be read in terms of a very profound and paradoxical SHIVA-SHAKTI COM PLEX (which we find expounded in Garland of Letters by Sir John Woodroffe). It should be observed that Grant s appropriation of Michael Bertiaux s work is just this, an Initiated but highly creative use of the Monastery System. Michael Bert iaux also developed the Thelemic Current through his very detailed Aiwaz Physics. Modern occultism, from all angles, is in debt to the work of Aleister Crowley ju st as modern physics must tip the hat to Newton. Both Grant and Bertiaux represe nt radical extensions of the reformations of Crowley. It just so happens that they joined forces while remaining independent and focused on their own Systems. This, we feel, is a model for how present day occult endeavors ought to function. The time of us vs. them is over. We do not need to join in some International Confeder ation nor do we need to eschew productive and important interchange. I once read a comment on the internet where someone wrote that Grant and Bertaiu x go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. As funny as this comment is, it is q uite true. And also quite true that WE are BREAD which makes the Spiritual Sandw ich complete! OTOA-LCN embraces the Law of Thelema (93) without need of reading this Universal Principle in terms of Crowleyite Lingo.
