GTM geared for service?

Despite what you you want, or rather dont want to deduct from the adjacent photograph, (the one with Greater Tubatse Mayor, Nkosi Josias Mahlake in a brand new TLB) the mayor is not personally going to build you a new road in the new financial year. BUT, maybe he can organise so that your existing road can be repaired now that the local government structure has received two new graders, one new TLB and two roller compactors worth R7,1 million. They are also going to get new tipper trucks and as soon as the drivers of the new equipment have been trained to use it properly, service delivery will improve (according to the mayor) when the new equipment will be used with the old equipment to try and wipe out the backlogs around several service areas in the municipality. Lets cross our thumbs ...

PTT axes ANC structures

The ANCs provincial task team (PTT) in Limpopo has disbanded three regional structures, the party said on Tuesday. The decision to disband the Sekhukhune, Peter Mokaba and Mopani regions followed an ANC national working committee and PTT probe. PTT spokesman Sello Lediga told the media the move was part of a decision taken by branches during consultations in January that recommended the disbandments. It is in the best interest of the organisation to disband the three regions in order to create an environment in which the ANC can begin to rebuild its structures, because clearly the branches have) rejected the RECs [regional executive committees]. The investigation focused on allegations of mismanagement of party affairs and institutionalised factions. The disbanded structures were accused of running parallel structures and preventing members from participating in processes before the African National Congresss conference in Mangaung in December last year. Lediga said this was going to impact on the partys plans to rebuild the ANC. On Wednesday the party announced the members of the regional task teams (RTTs) attend to day- to-day affairs of the ANC in the affected regions. The tasks teams should bring stability and take the party to provincial conference which will in turn take the party to general election victory. Former ANC provincial spokesperson Ishmael Kgetjepe, now a member of the provincial legislature (MPL) has been named as the chairperson of the regional task team in Sekhukhune. Julia Mathebe is his deputy while the coordinator is Jerry Maseko. Mopani was led by Joshua Matlou, Peter Mokaba by Lawrence Mapualo, and Sekhukhune by Mogobo David Magabe. Lediga said although the three were mayors in their respective municipalities the ANC would not take a decision as to whether they should be removed them from their posts.

The photograph depicts the last Greater Tubatse Local Municipal Council Meeting before the State of the Local Municipality Address (as advertised elsewhere on this page). At this meeting , (which was advertised and open to the public) the complete documents around the budgeting process were discussed and accepted by the Council as the culmination of the budgeting process that also entailed public and private sector input. The documents comprise several hundred pages and all information around development and projects around the whole municipality is available. The Mayor will summarise what is contained in the document on 8 June. Be there.
A Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) project of more than R40 million, contstruction of a tarred road to Alverton village from the Burgersfort - Praktiseer road, seems to be completed. Platinum Gazette travelled for 10 km on this new road through Alverton this week up to Mahlatsi (just before the Mafarafara turn-off) where it abrubtly stops (bottom). Nobody knows what RALs plan with the rest (biggest part) of the route to Kgautswane (Rietforntein) is.

Dangerous electrical cables cause animal deaths

Various animals including a giraffe was shocked to death with Eskom electrical cables running across the Hannah Game Lodge property. It is suspected that the accident happened on Friday last week and after the death of the giraffe, vultures coming to the carcass was also electrocuted. Eskom visited the farm in April to clear bushes beneath the lines and has knowledge of the danger it poses. Hannah Game Lodge management has lodged complaints and claims with Eskom regarding the incident and by the time of going to press were awaiting a response. The giraffe that died was 5.3m tall but still managed to touch the 4.4m high lines that are lowered by being skew. (Photographs and information: Hannah Game Lodge).

Fire destroys shop

A fire at the Fritjas Fish & Chips shop at the Morone Mall complex on Sunday afternoon left the shop destroyed. It is suspected that an oil fryer caused the blaze that started at about 16:30. It was quickly contained, but caused major damage. The photographs of the action on the scene (below) were taken by Ms Girly Manngo.

Mall activity still slowed down

Piping problems?
The installation of pipes for future water supply to Burgersfort is progressing well. The focus this week fell on this precious resource after Aloe Ridge to Leopards Bush in Burgersfort was left without water for almost two days after a main line burst. After the burst was repaired the reservoir was empty and this delayed the process even longer. The pipes that are being installed for the future supply is done next to where a road will be constructed in the future. Residents adjacent this week complained to the newspaper that in some areas the groundworks for the pipes are pushing against their fences and walls and they fear it might collapse.

Tubatse Crossing Mall opened its doors last week, but the day was quiet due to a protest by the taxi associations of the area. The official opening function (photograph below) did not happen and a postponed date was not scheduled. On Monday this week, inner city taxi drivers protested outside the Mall (photograph above). Police and traffic officers closed the entrance to the mall and regulated traffic around the protesters whose vehicles

where parked along one lane of the passing road. According to Greater Tubatse Municipality, Resilient Property Management did not attend a meeting scheduled for Wednesday this week and another meeting with the taxi association and the property group is planned for next week Monday. The bulk of taxi drivers did not drop passengers off or picked them up at Tubatse Crossing Mall until shortly before going to press this week.

Yello your signal is overdue. Please provide signal at your earliest convenience - MTN users
Platinum Gazette asked MTN some questions regard signal quality in the area after the newspaper received various complaints about this issue. Questions included data signal quality, dropping of calls and poor telephone signal as well as no service as various times. MTN says: MTN empathises with the community of Steelpoort and Burgersfort areas, and has been tirelessly and continually working on the signal problems for almost a year. Such initiatives include projects such as network upgrades. In ensuring that our customers are connected and receive MTN service, we have placed a temporary transmission hub in the area to address congestion. With this said, MTN would like to appeal to the Burgersfort and Steelpoort communities to report individuals suspected of theft of cables in the area. The theft of cables has been key to the continued loss of connectivity in the area and thus has been a hindrance to our efforts to deliver a world-class voice and Internet network in the area. To alleviate problems such as power outages, MTN is building a link from Nelspruit to Burgersfort. Krishna Chetty, GM: Radio Optimisation & Planning

They all caught some fish and some learners even cleaned their own fish. They stayed at the Jocks Sabie Lodge and visited the Sudwala Caves and Dinosaur Park near Nelspruit the next day. All the staff at the visited venues were very helpful and friendly and the school appreciates their trouble. Also thank you to the staff who accompanied the learners. Consumers seeking debt counselling will first have a debt review. This means that all your bills must be put on the table so that the debt counsellor can help you figure out exactly how much debt you have and compare it to your income. The debt counsellor will but together a plan to help you re-pay your debts, but still be able to pay for living expenses such as food and utility bills. If needed the debt counsellor will approach your creditors on your behalf to negotiate the best re-payment options possible. If they cannot agree, the debt counsellor may even go to court on your behalf to get a court order to assist with your re-payment plan. This means that you will be paying one amount to the debt counsellor and the debt counsellor will make sure that your debts get paid according to the agreed plan.

This is why it is important that consumers make sure that they go to a registered debt counsellor that will not take advantage of your situation. The easiest way to make sure that a debt counsellor is registered is to contact the National Credit Regulator (NCR) to check if the debt counsellor is registered with them. An easy search on their website will also provide the information. By seeking debt counselling as soon as the debt gets out of hand you may still be able to keep your car or house, although banks may threaten to come and take it. Debt counselling protects consumers from this type of harrassment and intimidation. You will be able to go for debt counselling if you have an income. Debt counsellors can only assist while you earn money that can be used to budget for your repayment plan and living expenses.
