Who Am I?

My name is Sarah Roberts, Im a 3rd year Graphic Design student, studying at Leeds College of Art. I originate from sunny Bolton.

I am Typographical and layout driven, with an interest in printed outcomes, education, small business branding and an understanding of web design. I enjoy a challenge and love undertaking new projects.

Hunter Gatherers
Hunter Gatherers are seven factual publications based on how humans survive all around the world. The publications engage the audience through illustration and photography. The aim is to challenge us to think about how we as a Western Society live.

Typosgraphe
An exhibition showcasing local typographical Leeds talent, held at The White Cloth Gallery for a week in January 2013. The event is named after the origins of the word Typography, taken from the Greek language Typos (form) Graphe (writing). Promotion for submissions and a full screen-printed branding of the event was created.

Leeds Kirkgte Market Re-Brand


Leeds Kirkgate Market, one of the largest indoors market in Europe. Built in 1857 Kirkgate is a shoppers paradise , but finding your way around is impossible. Re-branding the Market and creating a way-finding system so visitors can locate the stalls they need quicker. This project includes a proposed City branding so stalls can purchase packaging at cost price to give the Market an identity.

Branding Sarlait McCrea


Sarlait McCrea is a creative woodworker. She describes her way of working as an: exploration of concept, composition and structure. Through concept led design she aims to promote engagement and intrigue between artifact and audience. The typeface (a upper case using alternative characters, numbers and glyphs) is the foundation of Sarlaits brand. The inspiration came from studying agricultural and exploration symbols.

Branding Hannah Rampley


Hannah Rampley is a Illustrator and a Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Designer originating from Blackpool. She wanted a brand that was playful and based around a cute icon. She has a fascination with fruit and vegetables, particularly pineapples.

Learn a New Trade: Issue #1


Learn a New Trade is a proposed monthly tabloid newspaper available to purchase from its own website. If produced, the hope would be to promote traditional UK trades, so they are not forgotten and would still be seen as relevant to todays society. Twelve issues were proposed (see top right). I created all of the content myself including interviews with: Taxidermists, Artists and Museum Staff.

Re-Branding The Mosses Centre


The Mosses is a large Charity Community Centre. They are an important cornerstone for the community of Bury. Members of the Mosses Centre range from new born babies to 90 year old Elders, together with the committee we came up with the tag line Bringing communities together.

As part of my Final Major Project I have to create a publication about my influences as a designer. Through my dissertation and further research I realised that my interest lies in Geographical locations, asking the question: Where Is The Design I Love? This book is my response.

Re-cycle
Promotional and Informative Print Material create for Re-cycle, a UK charity committed to providing cheap and sustainable transport in Africa. All designed for the first submission of my second year at University.
