Saturn conjunct Uranus

You're rebellious with a strong need to be free, and won't accept any authority but your own. You need to be your own boss, and have a hard time working for anyone else. There's a constant battle going on within you between the world as it is, with all its laws and limitations, and what it would ideally be like without having to go through the work and lengthy self-discipline to make it so. This is an explosive combination in which your energy simmers undercover for long periods, and then suddenly erupts and blows to pieces what you've slowly built up over time. When Saturn by transit activates this conjunction, your conservative and law-abiding side will be stimulated. When transiting Uranus aspects this conjunction, however, the rebel in you will be stimulated, and the tendency to act suddenly and without restraint will come to the fore. This combination represents the need to balance change with stability and responsibility. Often there is a conflict between what we want to do and what we must do, but at this time you are likely to feel a compulsive need to throw off anything that you feel restricts or oppresses you even if these restrictions were for your own good. The tension in your job, home or your relationships can cause you to do rather unpredictable things now. It may be possible to balance your need for freedom and meet your obligations at the same time, but it will probably seem impossible. This is because Saturn represents the principle of agnoia (forgetting - or not knowing). Saturn is forgetting the principle of Uranus (that structure needs to change). On the other hand, if you are normally a disciplined individual, you may find this to be a time of creative inspiration, when you are able to bring your ideas into practical application. This is a creative period for inventors.

Transiting Saturn conjunct your natal Sun. Saturn cools the purpose and will of the Sun. You may experience a slackening of will or determination, or you may feel that you are too overworked and have taken on too many responsibilities. Recognition of your efforts may be forthcoming from superiors. The need to prove yourself may no longer exist or perhaps you have grown weary of such contests. Physically you need to take care of your health, especially your heart, lower back and cardiovascular system. If the Sun is lord of your 1st house, this is a time when you may feel inhibited in your self expression. Be careful about your health if you are older, especially if you have cardiac or back problems. You tend to have a more serious outlook on life now and may want to simplify your lifestyle. If lord of the 2nd house, a conservative attitude prevails in financial matters. You may prefer to hold back on investments or minimize risk. You may be more secretive than usual about things that you own. If lord of the 3rd house, you may feel the urge to get more organized in your daily routine and prefer a more efficient schedule. You will not want to travel much and so may relocate so that important places such as the bank or place of employment are closer to where you live. If lord of your 4th house, special attention is now needed in personal and family matters. Your relationships with older men or your father may change, or you may have obligations to take care of in these areas. Older people may feel a sense of isolation or loneliness. If lord of the 5th house, your children may require greater supervision now if you have any. Otherwise, this often indicates a time when your ability to express yourself is tested. Saturn conjunct Uranus

During the twentieth century, the conjunction aspect was made during 1942 and in 1988. It offers the possibility of an effective balance between these two antagonistic planets. Apart from those born under this aspect, the energy releaseed into the collective mind at these times can aid in the interplay between forces of order and chaos, conceivably bringing the opposites into equilibrium and allowing a space for something new to be born. For the individual with this aspect, there should be the ability to fuse ideas with practical application, to ground and anchor those sometimes slightly intangible and ephemeral Uranian ideas, thus transferring the, from the level of mind into material existence. You should be able to take advantage of your personal resources and talents; and these can be effectively expressed through efficient organisation. The flow of Uranian energy should seem more consistent and reliable; and you will be able to apply persistence and focused will to achieve your objectives. Often, you will find enjoyment from becoming involved in situations where you can create order from chaos. Whilst this may appear Saturnian in nature, Uranus is not chaotic for the sake of it, but is only disruptive in order to create the conditions for a higher order to be superimposed. You can function in a 'bridging role', carefully restoring a balance between order and change, and re-integrating this into a new structure which is an improvement on the previous one. In modern life, where so many changes are occurring so quickly, such a role can be most important, and utilises both of these planetary characteristics in

a positive way. You have a sympathetic understanding of the past, and of the values and attitudes of conservative stability, yet also intuit and appreciate the necessity of change and evolving of social structures, organisations and individual development. You will try to integrate these threads, uniting what is worth retaining from the past with the ideas of the next step forward. Doing this, you work with both your intellect and intuitional faculties, and so reflect the next stage in human development towards the consciousness of unity. You are likely to prefer a form of expression that involves a social contribution over and above mere participation in society; you would like to feel that you have some influence in improving things, and that your preoccupation is not totally for personal gain. In most cases, this would be the Uranus energy, as the Saturn energy, which is one of order and discipline, is often expressed through social conditioning. To free this blocked energy, more spontaneity, more experimentation, and exploration of new interests, would help. These would stimulate needed changes to happen, and so break down any fixed lifestyle patterns that are becoming inhibiting. If the Saturn energy is repressed, more self-discipline, commitment and perseverance to achieving your objectives would help. If the lifestyle lacks control, too much freedom could also lead to a loss of personal centre and stability, leaving you feeling lost and unsure of what to do or in which direction to travel. You will need to draw through the Saturn qualities of boundary-making and structure, so that your life and inner nature begin to take distinct form again, creating a stable foundation from which to work.

The transit of Saturn over natal Uranus only happens once every thirty years. Aquarians who were born with Uranus in late Leo or early Virgo will experience this transit in 2007. These people have experienced this transit only once before in late 1977-to mid 1978. Saturn transiting over natal Uranus can be very upsetting. Uranus is such as free spirit, so prone to eratic behaviour and activity. When Saturn comes by to squish on it, it is a slowing, dampening effect on the wilful nature of Uranus. The even stronger transit is the reverse one where it is Uranus that transits your natal Saturn. One of the most memorable times in my life was during this once-in-a-lifetmine transit of Uranus over natal Saturn. This happened in 1996 for me and I was suddenly and totally unexpectedly laid off from my job. I had been there for six years and had invested all my selfesteem in this silly (but prestigious and well-paying) job. Although I'd been trying to figure out for over a year how I would get myself out of there and into something new, I had delayed any action and was just stalling and stewing misearably. And then the bolt of lightening came. Almost the exact same day this long-term transit hit exact, I was given the boot (with much sugar coating) to my great shock and panic. I recall this time as one of the scariest points in my life in terms of forcing me to go out into unknown territory and make a completely new career for myself. (In my case Uranus rules my 10th house). In retrospect this transit helped me so very much. I was freed of a real bondage and confinement. I had been living as an Aquarian ruled by

Saturn. Now I started the second major chapter in my life where I began living as an Aquarian ruled by Uranus. The transiting Saturn over Uranus transit will have many of the same vibes. But instead of forcefully freeing us from Saturn's inhibitions, this transit could bind our freedom in some way; it could burden us with some additional responsibility, maybe regarding some older people in our life.
