COMPUTER TECHNICIAN PACKAGE Procedure on How to Reformat/Install OS and other Application in a PC I.

Back-up Files and other Important Documents Reformatting a PC is an easy task for a technician. There is a need to reformat a PC when an OS is corrupted, infected with viruses and when the owner wanted to upgrade his OS into a higher version. Before formatting a PC you have first to back up the files and other important documents saved in your Drive C:/Local Disk. The following are the procedures on how to back up files and other important documents: A. Back up your files from Drive C:/Local Disk to Drive D: 1. If your hard disk has two partitions, you can copy important files from your Drive C:/Local Disk to Drive D:. File can be found in different locations such as: - Desktop - My Documents - My Music - My Pictures - My Videos - Download B. Back up your file from Hard Disk to an External Hard Disk. 1. If your hard disk is single partitioned, you can save your files in an external hard disk. 2. Restart or reboot your PC, when the Power On Self Test (POST) appeared press F8 to enter in a safe mode. When your PC is in a safe mode status, you can safely copy files from your hard disk to an external hard disk. While PC is in the safe mode, limited programs are running in your PC and viruses cannot infect your external hard disk. The same files you should copy as mentioned in the above (A). II. Operating System (OS) Installation Windows 7 All in One The following are the procedure on how to install OS (Windows 7): Reboot PC and enter into CMOS Setup. CMOS command varies depending upon the brand name and manufacturer, but usually it has a command of - F1, F2 and DEL. Select the first boot device as DVD or if you have an external DVD, select USB DVD or what it describe in your PC. Select the second boot device as Hard Disk, then press F10 to save the setting. Enter the OS in the DVD rom and wait the installation to start. When the installation started, check the terms and conditions agreement or license agreement. Select what kind of win7 version you wanted to install such as: - Windows 7 starter x86 - Windows 7 home basic x86 - Windows 7 professional x86 - Windows 7 ultimate x86, and etc. 1

- Windows 7 starter x64 - Windows 7 home basic x64 - Windows 7 professional x64 - Windows 7 ultimate x64, and etc. Note: x86 stands for 32 bits architecture of windows 7. A 32 bits architecture is compatible with many windows based software but has limited memory consumption. Meaning to say, it has a slower graphics speed compare to 64 bits. While x64 stands for 64 bits architecture which is not compatible with the most common windows based software. Selected software can be installed in this architecture but it maximizes the memory or has a faster graphics speed. Select the partition you wanted to install the OS or select partition 1. Select option to format the partition or you can create another partition. Click next to proceed the installation. Click next, next, next to continue the installation and fill in the needed information. Note: uncheck the field automatically connect to the internet/online and check the field NOT RIGHT NOW when there is a statement that automatically received updates. Any statements that ask to connect to the internet should be disallowed. If you failed to do this your OS will be blocked by the WINDOWS administrator when you get online later. This is the common mistakes of most technicians. We are only using the pirated version of OS, the authentic OS is very expensive. It should be one OS for every purchase of computer. Continue until finished.

III. Installation of Needed Application and Utilities Software 1. Install Windows 7 License found in a Win7 License and Utilities DVD. 2. Install Driver found in a Driver DVD. 3. Install Antivirus found in a Win7 License and Utilities DVD. Needed antivirus: - Avira - USB Disk Security - Mcafee Virus Scan Enterprise 4. Scan with antivirus (Avira) the Drive D: where the back up files located. If your back up files found in an external hard disk, scan with antivirus before transferring into the Drive C:. Note: dont open any back up files without scanning with antivirus. It can infect your newly installed OS. 5. Install the following application found in Application Software DVD: - MS Office 2007 (run the setup application, the product key is on the notepad files) - MS Office 2010 (optional) run the X16-32007 found in the setup folder. Enter the product key in a notepad file - Microsoft Office Professional 2010 Serials, then select continue. After the installation is finished, run the OTK2010V201 in a winrar file found in Office 2010 Toolkit and EZ-Activator 2.01 folder. Wait until finished. Photoshop CS5 or CS6 (copy Photoshop application in the desktop, it is portable. You can run this without installation). - UleadVideoStudio 11 - Video Maker (run the UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack, serial number can be found in the folder) optional. 6. Install the following utilities software found in Utilities Software DVD: a. Audio and Video - vlc-1.1.11-win32 - All Video Converter - Other utilities under this folder is optional b. Browsers and Plugins - Firefox Setup 10.0b6 - chrome_installer - flashplayer11-2_p4_install_win_ax32_011912 - flashplayer11-2_p4_install_win_pi32_011912 - Other utilities under this folder is optional c. CD and DVD Tools - Nero 10.0 + Serials en Keygen - DivXNL-Team - Other utilities under this folder is optional d. Compression and Backup - Winrar - Other utilities under this folder is optional e. Desktop (Optional) f. File Sharing - uTorrent-3.2 - YTDSetup - Other utilities under this folder is optional g. Firewall and Security (Optional) h. Games (Optional) i. Messaging and Chat - SkypeSetup2 - Other utilities under this folder is optional j. Office Tools - AdbeRdr1012_en_US - Other utilities under this folder is optional k. Photos and Images (Optional) l.
