Dear Contractor:

Please find enclosed a bid package for the proposed work for the Fleischmanns Community Garden located on Wagner Ave, Fleischmanns NY (Next to Park). This work is being undertaken as part of the Fleischmanns First Initiative along with funding from the O'Connor Foundation and being administered by the MARK Project. In this bid package you will find a Scope of Work. Please read it over and feel free to contact me with any questions. I'm also enclosing a Bid Summation sheet and a NonCollusive Bidding Certificate for you to fill out. These, along with your Certificate of Workers Compensation Insurance, and your bid is due in the MARK office June 11 by noon.

Fleischmanns Community Garden Work Write Up Wagner Ave Fleischmanns NY 5/23/13 Proposals are due in the M-ARK Project Office, located at 43355 State Highway 28 Arkville, NY 12406 by Tuesday June 11th at Noon. Pre-Bid Walkthrough will be Wednesday June 5th at 10am. If you are considering a bid on this project do your best to attend. If you cannot absolutely make walk through call me (845-586-3500) to set up an alternative appointment. All work on this project must conform to all NYS building code, national code and any local code. Work may be conducted during the hours of 7:30am and 6:00pm Monday-Saturday. No work on Weekends.

FLEISCHMANNS' COMMUNITY GARDEN Raised Bed Gardens Following the layout provided, construct twelve (12) individual raised bed garden boxes 2'xlO'x 30" using 2x10 hemlock stacked three high and assembled w Stainless steel screws Once box is built use 2x6 Cedar or Hemlock to create a cap/border along top of box Drill (6) 11/2" holes in cap and install 11/2 PVC Pipe w cap over exposed end, These should measure at least 3' high beyond top cap and serve as posts for bird netting. At bottom of box install metal mesh to keep out rodents, and then add 6" layer of crushed stone for drainage, then layer of landscape fabric followed by 10" of mulch (provided by the Village of Fleischmanns no charge, you must load and haul) and a final 12" layer of Positive Nutrient Soil. Fasten numbers on each bed 1-12 * * See Drawing at end ** All fasteners to be stainless steel ** 4 feet apart Handicapped Boxes Following the layout provided, construct four (4) individual raised bed garden boxes 4'x 4'x 30" using 2x10 hemlock stacked three high and assembled w Stainless steel screws Once box is built use 2x6 Cedar or Hemlock to create a cap/border along top of box Drill 11/2" holes in cap and install 11/2 PVC Pipe w cap over exposed end, These should measure at least 3' high beyond top cap and serve as posts for bird netting. 4 total.

Compost Bin Assemble Three (3) Pallets vertically creating left/ right and back walls on front attach double lx2's on each side creating channel 1 3/4" wide. Cut 4 Cedar or Hemlock 2x6 boards to fit in slots and leave loose in channels. Cut 11/2" PVC pipe slightly wider than pallets and drill many .25" holes in pipe for air. These pipes will be used to lie in layers of compost to aerate material. Some additional holes may need to be drilled in compost side walls to accommodate piping. * * See Drawing at end ** All fasteners to be stainless steel Price including all labor and materials

Water Tank and Stand Using Cedar or Hemlock 2"x4"x4' lay on top of each other and drill hole in center. Bolt hole and create two crosses. Fasten 2/4's on both sides of bottom, one in center and two more 2x4 's at both sides of top. Install food safe barrel (55 gallon drum) in rack where laid out in garden area. Install spigot in barrel hole and ensure that it does not leak. Need to make a top hole for Village to supply water.

Fencing Install approximately 350' LF of fencing Slat Fencing following plot layout on park side and install Two (2) 6x6 cedar posts 36" apart into 4' deep holes and fill with compactable soil. Posts should measure from ground to top at least 8' Between posts install a wooden screen door with spring loaded hinges and latch * * See Drawing at end 1. Alternative for fencing...Wood p re-pain ted....$ 2. Alternative for fencing...composite material...$ Walkways Between all walkways of garden beds place layer landscape fabric and install a 3" min of mulch; provided by the Village of Fleischmanns no charge, you must load and haul.
