The LRC section on MyMet provides information about the resources available within the LRC and is a portal to electronic resources both inside and outside college. This leaflet provides a brief guide to the resources we have on offer. Read the leaflet or logon to MyMet and take a look.

Heritage Catalogue Search aka Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) By using the OPAC system students can search for books, journals, dvds and all other mediums. No need to stand at the counter, queuing to find out whether we have the items you need. HOW? Click on the Heritage Catalogue Search segment on the LRC page: Just type the search term in the box >> press enter or the magnifying glass >> All items relevant to your search criteria will be listed. It will include how many of this item is available and via what medium (i.e. journal, book or DVD).

For further information on the item click on the title you are interested in. Standard no: Note this down if you need to reserve a book. Class: Dewey class and Shelfmark helps the user to locate the section of the library where the item can be found. The Harvard reference for the item. Which campus the item is held. Athens Athens provides access to all LRC electronic resources in one place, this provides students with the opportunity to access resources 24/7 whether your inside or outside college. All you need to do is register. Subject guides Directorate subject guides highlights books, websites and journals that are relevant to the courses that you are studying. The paper copies of the guides can be found in the library and electronic copies can be found on the LRC pages. For your assignment we recommend the Humanities and Social Science guide : Humanities 1 We further recommend Spark Notes: http://www.sparknotes.com/sparknotes/ this websites will help to break down the plot, themes and analysis of the selected literature. eBooks Our eBooks selection covers a variety of topics and because they are digitally formatted they can be manipulated in various ways which include:- zoom, searching text with keywords, produce citations and referencing . Student can use print and download selected titles within the parameters of copyright legislation. Referencing and avoiding plagiarism The referencing guide, provides examples of how to cite sources using the Harvard system. By using this booklet students can cite sources correctly and reduce the risk of plagiarism. Also contained within the guide is a link to the http://libweb.anglia.ac.uk/referencing/harvard.htm page. This site helps the user to identify the type of referencing required, i.e. a website, or citing authors in text, and then provides an example of how the reference should be written.
