Materials Needed:
Pictures of carnivors Omnivores Crayon Picutures of carnivore and herbivore teeth. *Beginning (How will I introduce activity?) During large group we will have a discussion about different types of dinosaurs. I will tell them: Hervavores Paper markers

All dinosaurs were different Can you tell me how they were different? What did they like to do? What kind of food did they eat? Do you guys think they all liked the same food? There were many different types of dinosaurs. Some were called carnivores. Does anyone know what is a carnivore? Some were called herbivore. Do you guys know what was a herbivore? And some were omnivores. Do you know what an omnivore was?
I will elaborate on the answers they give me depending on the answer. *Middle: (How will I support/enhance/scaffold?) Well all dinosaurs are different and they all like to eat different foods. Do you like to eat different food? Who likes hamburgers and hotdogs? People eat meat to. Just like dinosaurs you are carnivores. Who only eats salad? Only green salad. You would be a herbivore? Who likes both salads and hamburgers? Then you would be a omnivore. We are also just like dinosaurs because of the things we eat. Now look at the dinosaurs. What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat (carnivores)?

Why do you think they like to eat that? They do like to eat meat. Look at their teeth, are they sharp? Do you think they need that to eat the meat? Does it stand on two legs or four legs? Yea on two legs, do you think thats why they run fast? Now, look at them, are they big or small? Oh, well now look at these dinosaurs (herbivores). What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat? Why do you think they like to eat that? They do like to eat leaves. Look at their teeth, are they sharp? Do you think they need that to eat the meat? Does it stand on two legs or four legs? Yea on four legs? Now, look at them, are they big or small? What about their necks are they big or small? Oh but now look at these dinosaurs (omnivores). Look at their teeth. Are their teeth sharp? Do you think thats why they eat leaves. What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat? Why do you think they like to eat that? These are omnivores. Which dinosaur do they look like. Do they look like carnivores or do they look like herbivores. Look at their teeth are their teeth sharp?

*End: (How will I bring activity to conclusion and transition to next activity?)

Now here is some paper and you can draw your own dinosaur. I will ask them what was your favorite type of dinosaur. I will let them know that there is only about 5 minutes left to finish our dinosaurs. I will write down what the children say about their drawing. I will then tell them it is time to go to the carpet so we can go home.

I will ask the children individually what they dinosaur they are going to make.
