Key Word: Psycological Developments, Main Character, Novel Novel is a representative of the real life which is written by the writer in the fictive work. The real life of the main character is the reference of the researcher in this thesis. The background of the main character in this novel is his adolescence. Every adolescent has different individuality in life. Their physiological, mentality and psychologies grow-up. It makes them different than before. Their changes make them feel uncomfortable and give many negative effects. The process of maturity of psychological development is called as adolescent psychological development. This development is related to the aspect of emotional, mentality, desire and the adolescents morality. The aim of this research is to describe the psychological development of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel written by Andrea Hirata. The psychological developments are: (1) the development of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel in the first episode, (2) the development of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel in the middle episode, (3) the development of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel in the last episode. The descriptive qualitative method is used in this thesis because the researcher describes the psychological development of the main character in the novel. The data of this thesis are in the form of sentences, dialogue, monolog and narration which describe the psychological development of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel written by Andrea Hirata. The resource of the data is Sang Pemimpi novel written by Andrea Hirata. This novel was published in 2008. In this research, the researcher is the human instrument who gathers and examines the data. The procedures of gathering the data are (1) reading the novel comprehensively and, (2) identify the sentences which include the psychological development of the main character, (3) codify every words found, and (4) classify the data based on the research problems. Data analysis is done by codify, data reduction, interpretation analysis, then the result. The result of this research are (1) the psychological development of the main character of the Sang Pemimpi novel in the first episode are (a) psychological development in the emotional point of view: hotheaded and bad tempered; (b) moralities point of view: often doing something; (c) social point of view: cant take some decision by his-self and starts to like females; (2) the psychological development of the main character of the Sang Pemimpi novel in the middle episode are (a) psychological development in the emotional point of view: more stable, abstracted and be alone; (b) morality point of view: be autonomous; (c) social point of view: able to choose certain carrier; (3) the psychological development of the main character of the Sang Pemimpi novel in the last episode are (a) ) psychological development in the emotional point of

view: be an adult and stable emotion; (b) morality point of view: high responsibility; (c) social point of view: able to fill the societies expectation and desire. Based on the data above, the conclusion of this research is there are psychological developments of the main character of Sang Pemimpi novel written by Adrea Hirata from the first until the last episode. In the first episode, the main character tries to find his real identity. In the middle episode, the main character finds his real identity one by one. In the last episode, the main character has became a real man. It supports him to have high responsibility to his social environment. This research can be used also to be a reference to all teachers to face their students, especially in different characteristic of individuality. After reading this research, it is hoped to help teachers to solve their students psychological problems. This research is also hoped to be a reference in Indonesian Language teaching in junior high school or senior high school especially finding the psychological development of the main character in novel or short story.
