Pet House Model Experiment

AIM: To make a model pet house and it must be waterproof and have insulation HYPOTHESIS: I think that my pet house will have good insulation and will be waterproof APPARATUS: The things we will need: METHOD: 1. Collect your martials A cardboard box (23 cm) Cotton Balls (a least a packet) String (at least 30cm long) Glue Glad Wrap Some more cardboard (A4) Hole puncher Sticky tape/Duct tape Paint/Paint brushers Watering Can Stick of butter Timer

2. Turn your box vertically

3. Cut off all the flaps from the entrance 4. Cut off the top of the box

5. Paint the sides of the house

6. Once dry get the extra cardboard and a fold it vertically

7. Get duct tape and stick the roof on ( you may need some help) 8. Get glad wrap and the roof (DO NOT COVER THE DOOR WAY OR THE WALLS) (DO THE BACK OF THE ROOF)

9. Get another piece of cardboard and cut it the size of the door way (37 cm)

10. Make two holes with a hole puncher in the cardboard with the door 11. Get the string and thread it through the two holes (DO NOT CUT THE STRING)

12. Make two holes just near the door in the house 13. Thread the same string through the holes

Pamela 6M 14. Get the cotton balls and paste them against the walls and roof

15. You have now finished your pet house model

RESULTS: Pamela Yes it didnt get wet at all since I poured three litres over it. It didnt have a lot of installation because my butter didnt melt but it got a little soft. Serena My house was waterproof My butter didnt melt but it got soft. Talia Yes, my house was waterproof. I had installation but the butter didnt melt.

Was the house waterproof? Did your house have installation?

CONCLUSION: The house that was most waterproof was the back of the house. The evidence we have to prove that this is waterproof would have to be the inside it didnt get wet at all. The part of my house that had the most installation would have to be the back inside. This evidence we have to prove that the butter didnt melt a lot but it melted a little bit. Some good house design features of our houses were the outside because it was painted on the side and the gladwrap didnt look like it was there. Some areas I could have improved to make my house more waterproof would be to get water proof paint. Some areas I could have improved to make my house more insulating would be to put more cotton balls inside and put more glue because the cotton balls were falling off.
