trisha.foster@hcahealthcare.com Cc: ellen.hinz1@hcahealthcare.com Miss Trisha M. Foster, I have received your letter dated March 11, 2013. Be advised that we do not agree to consult with Mr. Hansen at this time. Also, be advised that Mr. Hansen does in no way represent us(redacted parents) or patient [redacted] best interests legal, medical or otherwise. We do not authorize Mr. Hansen to be involved in this instant matter. It is now documented that you, as an HCA / Doctors Hospital employee, are refusing to answer our questions relating to: 1. The unauthorized sharing of patient [redacted] medical information / billing dollar amounts with other specific corporate fictions and natural persons. 2. The method by which formal complaints insofar as ethical, statutory, and organic law violations can be reported to HCA so that HCA can properly and promptly address said violations. Furthermore, it has now been documented that you, as an HCA employee, are in direct violation of the HCA code of conduct effective March 1, 2012. You know or should know that said "code" well describes mandatory policies put forth by HCA and that you are specifically bound by said mandates. On December 5th, 2012, as a patient advocate, you failed [redacted], [redacted] parents([redacted]), [redacted]'s extended family, the HCA mission, the HCA code of conduct, and the HCA patients rights and responsibilities. You continue to fail patient [redacted] by erroneously doing what you are "instructed" which, to date, is clearly not advocating that which is best for [redacted]. The HCA code of conduct is laudable to be certain and requires you, an HCA employee, to consider the patient first and foremost. Your behavior thus far evidences that other priorities are put well ahead of patient [redacted]'s best interests. Perhaps you can explain how your referenced attorney fulfills HCA's strategy of putting patients first? Explain how said attorney is going to help you, "act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives" as per the HCA mission and values statement. Near all of the enumerated "patients rights and responsibilities", as expressed by HCA documentation, were intentionally and recklessly violated during Flint's HCA hospital visit. [redacted]'s father and I called for your help early on, as patient advocate, yet the unremitting abuse, bullying, and intimidation increased in intensity toward patient [redacted] and his parents. At the end of the day you are personally responsible for your actions or, in patient [redacted]'s case, the lack thereof. I would like to remind you that page 33 of the HCA code of conduct allows for and encourages HCA employees to report any concerns regarding misconduct on the part of any human being within an HCA hospital. Said "ethics line" can be contacted at 800-455-1996. If you are aware of any ethical or potential misconduct concerns regarding patient [redacted], then you are unequivocally bound to report them promptly. Ellen Hintz, HCA ethics compliance, is also receiving this electronic letter. Respectfully, [mother's name redacted]
