This two-day course will give you the opportunity to work with industry standard animation software (Autodesk 3ds Max) and learn the basic process for making your first 3D models, wrapping up with a simple turntable of your character animation. In this comprehensive introductory course, you will: Explore Autodesk 3ds Max software Create basic shapes using different tools Create objects in a 3D environment Apply standard textures Apply custom textures across the surfaces of your object(s) Cast effective lights & shadows to your object(s) Enhance realism of your model / object(s) Learn different methods of rendering Create a standard turntable to showcase your object(s)

LESSON PLAN
Lesson 1 Interface and Basic Modelling Introduce the interface of 3DS Max, and some of the basic modelling tools and showing how powerful they are by making a simple object. Lesson 2 Basic animation Using simple modelling techniques to build a basic animation-ready model.
Lesson 3 Reference Modelling Using a reference picture to help create an accurate model while exploring some new tools and modifiers. Lesson 4 Materials and Maps Introducing how the materials work and maps and the kinds of effect they produce with the help of Photoshop.
Instructor Bio Jenny Tao is a freelance designer who specialises in high-level animation. Jenny has years of industry experience, working for significant clients such as Disney, Toyota and the game development company, Shockwave. Her Masters of Animation was completed at UTS where she focussed especially on the storytelling process. Jenny has a passion for animation and an exacting eye for detail, which will keep you on your toes while youre learning with her. She develops animations of all kinds including: 2D animation, animation by hand and 3D. Most recently she has worked on 3D development in the digital form. Jenny has expert knowledge of a range of software such as 3D Studio Max. Her style is a little dark, a little bit anime and a lot sassy! You will hopefully have a great time learning animation basics with her.
