NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM

CIVIC WELFARE AND TRAINING SERVICE


S.Y: 2013 2014 Facilitator: Mark Ludwig Juanillo Labastida Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3:00 4:00PM Units: 3 units (Theoretical and Application) National Service Training Program Act of 2001 (RA 9163) This Act affirms that the prime duty of the government shall be to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be the responsibility of all citizens to defend the security of the State; thus the government may require each citizen to render personal, military or civil service. In recognition of the vital role of the youth in nation-building, the State shall promote civic consciousness among them and shall develop their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being. It shall inculcate the ideals of patriotism, nationalism, and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs. In the pursuit of these goals, the youth shall be motivated, trained, organized and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic welfare and other similar endeavors in service to the nation. COURSE CODE: Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) Description: CWTS refers to programs or activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry. COURSE TITLE: Committee on Culture and the Arts Volunteer Program Description: CWTS students would engage in social action, through cultural immersion activities such as the development and redevelopment of local arts through theater, writing and acting workshops. It should be noted that the aim of this committee is to revive the fledgling Tagumeos culture. COURSE GOAL: The primary goal of the CWTS Committee on Culture and the Arts Volunteer Program is aligned with the general objective of the NSTPs Serving Our People, Building Our Nation. The program aims to develop the students self -awareness in relation to the culture of the country and the immediate Tagumeos community through citizenship, volunteerism and career exploration and development the three dimensions identified which are deemed necessary in the goal of developing the self for the service of the nation.

OBJECTIVE
(1) Reinforce and empower ones ethical and spiritual growth through intensive series of seminar on values formation with emphasis on TNTS core values of fortitude, excellence and uprightness. (2) Inculcate commitment, discipline, and a sense of social responsibility.
