Renewable Power
Alstom has over 30 years experience in providing all-round wind power solutions. There are more than 2,500 Alstom turbines installed or under construction in more than 150 wind farms, delivering over 3,800 MW, around the world. As hot topic in Japan, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is to use Alstoms wind turbines for the new Higashi Izu II wind farm, which is TEPCOs first wind farm project. Alstom has developed the Alstom Pure Torque concept, which better supports the rotor and ensures bending loads are not distributed to working parts of the turbine, but are instead transferred to the tower. This extends the life of the drive train in the turbine, especially the gearbox, reducing operation and maintenance costs over the life of the turbine. This concept is suitable to complex terrain area such as Japan.
