PMO Assessment Template
Objective: Provide company executives with the ability to assess the maturity level of their Project Management Office (PMO) over a 5-year period. Description: This tool will allow users to quickly and easily assess the maturity level of their PMO. The maturity level is referenced against the 5 Capability Maturity Model Integration(CMMI) levels: Chaotic, Repeatable, Defined, Managed and Optimizing. The CMMI levels are used as a convenient reference only and is not intended to convey an exact alignment to CMMI. The assessment is not intended to be a comparative analysis against industry standards. The template displays 12 Maturity Levels. Users may modify or rearrange the Maturity Levels to match their organizations executive or strategic guidelines for measuring their PMO. Maturity Levels are rated either 10 or 5. A rating of 5 indicates that the particular Maturity Level is less important in assessing the PMO. Users have the flexibility to assign the rating goal (Goal column) for each Maturity Level. However, the total Goal must equal 100. Assessments can be done historically (past years to current year, with Years 1 thru 4 representing past years, and Year 5 representing the current year. Assessments can also be done to reflect projected or future maturity. In this case, Year 1 would represent the current year, and years 2 thru 5 would represent projected maturity levels.
