An Angels Passion #1 of 9 The Birth of Evil

Setting: The Heavenly Courts Characters: Kimi-el-A poet/singer, will become a demon Darian-A messenger (Also the Narrator) Costumes/Props: Two white robes Other Props Optional Narrator: How can I tell of the tragedy? How do I show you the pain? So many bonds were severed; so many friendships were broken. It is so long ago, but it seems like yesterday. How I long for the happiness and harmony of the times before the Rebellion when all was at peace, but it was not to be. You see it all began when Lucifer, chief of the Angels thought himself great. There is no question that he was blessed. While other angels were gifted in one or two ways, Lucifer was gifted with everything. We all looked up to him. We all followed his lead in worship and asked his advice. I suppose that it simply went to his head. He forgot that it was the Creator who had blessed him and began believing that he had made himself great. His faith in the Almighty started changing, and he questioned the Lords justice. His pride had grown, but it had not yet conquered him. Knowing the consequences, the Creator called together the Great Assembly of the Angelic Hosts. There, before all, the Lord revealed his glory and reminded us of his power and his love. Seeing these things the Angelic Host praised and glorified the Almighty Creator, the Great Three-in-One God! Even Lucifer was compelled to worship and, for a time, forgot his doubts and harmony returned; but it did not last, for Lucifer had not surrendered his pride. Soon his doubts returned, this time far more calloused than they had once been. He set about deceiving others and in doing so made his final decision and the Universe would never be the same. I had left on an assignment soon after the Great Assembly and was anxious to return to the Heavenly Courts; little did I know that upon my return I would be forced to make a choice that would affect my existence for the rest of eternity (On stage Kimi-el is pacing with obvious frustration. Makes thoughtful and frustrated gestures, as if talking to himself.) (Enter Darian) Darian:(Smiling) Kimiel, My Friend, It is wonderful to see you! Kimi-el:(Kimi-el is excited to see Darian, seems to forget frustration) Darian! It is wonderful to see you as well. Darian: How is life in the Heavenly Courts?

Kimi-el:(Seems dissatisfied) Life in the heavenly courts does not vary. What is your latest assignment? Darian:(Excited, remembering great things) I have been a courier between the outer galaxies. It was inspiring to witness the wonders of those places, if you have not been there, you must request an assignment. The Creator has once again imagined marvels that cannot be expressed in words. You must see it! Kimi-el:(Thoughtful, somewhat devious) The Outer Galaxies you say? That must have been very compelling. As you know, I was here, singing songs as I have for so long. Perhaps I can be assigned to the Outer Galaxies, or perhaps, I will not need an assignment. Darian: (Not sure what to make of Kimi-els remarks) What do you mean, my friend? Of course you will need an assignment; that is our way to serve the Creator. You know this. Kimi-el: Yes, Yes we shall see (Knows Darian will demand a greater explanation) Darian: Enough with your subtlety, Kimi-el. What do you hide? Kimi-el:(Feigning Innocence. Takes on slippery tone of voice.) I hide nothing, My Friend. You need not worry about me, I was merely suggesting that the Creator may be soon compelled to relax hisstricter policies, for instance, the assignment system. It is such a hassle. Darian: I would not say that the assignment system is a strict policy nor a hassle. It is the Creators way of showing us how to serve him best. Kimi-el:(Guiding the direction of the conversation) But Darian, did you not just tell me that if I wish to see the wonders of the Outer Galaxies, I should need an assignment from the Creator? Is that not strict? Darian: Kimi-el, I dont understand wher-Kimi-el:(Interrupting, becoming intense) Of course you dont understand. You just go along with whatever the Creator says; you never question him.(Could begin pacing) Are we not beings made with the ability to think and reason, do we not have the freedom of choice? Darian I have found something I have never had before. I have found my potential or at least glimpsed it.(Throughout Kimi-el increases in intensity and passion.) Darian: (Uneasy) What have you glimpsed, my friend, that would make you question the very structure you belong to; your very Creator?

Kimi-el:(maintaining passion) I have glimpsed the future. Captain Lucifer believes he has discovered something, a formula of sorts that would allow him to join the Godhead. Darian:(increduluous) He attempts to be one with the Godhead! That is impossible! It is the Creator. He is Almighty; All powerful. Kimi-el: But it is Lucifer we are talking about. If anyone can break through the wall the Creator has set up; it would be Lucifer, he is more than a mere angel, even you must see that. He is greatness and he deserves better. We deserve better. You are one of the fastest and strongest of our kind, but how are your skills being used? You are a simple messenger. You could be more. Imagine, Darian, the freedom to be anything you can be. (very charismatic) Darian: (breaking the mood) Do you not hear yourself, Kimi-el? You speak of the Creator, have you so easily forgotten the glorious poems and songs you have composed in praise and admiration of Him. You speak of walls and formulas. This is not you, my friend. I know that you have had these doubts before, but that was before the Great Assembly. Have you so quickly forgotten that day when you confessed your doubt with tears and repentance? Kimi-el: (feigning sincerity) No, My Friend, I have not forgotten that day, and do not mistake me; I have no doubts about the Creator. He is who he says he is and all is, and should be, according to his will, but what if this is His will, what if he would have us be independent, fulfilling all of our potential for His Glory. Darian: (unsure)How is it that you would secure this, Independence? Kimi-el: (intensity returns)By joining together and confronting The Creator. If all the hosts of Heaven were together, calling for the ascension of Lucifer, the Creator would have no choice but to allow it. Then we would be free. Darian: How would Lucifer becoming Creator, free us? Kimi-el: Because we would have representation. There would be a member of the Godhead that sympathized with us, that knew our desires and our needs. Darian: Kimi-el, The Creator gave us those desires and needs. He knows our inmost souls, why would we need greater representation? Kimi-el: (condescending)Darian, are you so nave? Do you speak anything that is your own? Everything you have said couldve come directly from the mouth of the Creator. Darian: (matter-of-fact) Well, Kimi-el, everything you are has come directly from the Creator. You would have us band together and take our independence, but has it 3

occurred to you that in banding together in that way, we would lose our independence. You say Lucifer deserves the Throne of God, that it is Gods Will to elevate us. How much of that is the rhetoric of Lucifer. My Friend you are walking a dangerous course and while I cannot join you I will plead with you. Give Up this cause! It is not the will of The Creator! Kimi-el: (becoming bitter)I cannot, and will not, give this up! I have lived in chains for too long, and I will not be content to stay in them! Darian: Of what chains do you speak, Kimi-el? Kimi-el: Darian, we are all a part of a system that cannot work and it is the will of God that we progress beyond this pitiful existence. Darian: (quiet and even)Is it Gods will or Lucifers? Kimi-el: Soon there will not be a difference. They shall be one and the same! Darian: Kimi-el, have you been so deceived! You know there is a difference; there has always been a difference! The created cannot be equal to the Creator. It is impossible! Kimi-el: Why? If the Creator is truly who He claims to be, could he not create a being that has the potential to be his equal? I believe He has, in Lucifer. Darian: There is no doubt that Lucifer is a great being, but he is not The Great Being. Kimi-el: (Satisfied) So then, you are admitting that the Creator is not all he claims to be? Darian: Kimi-el, you know I did not say that! Kimi-el: (triumphant) You are saying that the Creator is not powerful enough to create his equal. Darian: (pauses, confused then speaks with growing confidence) Kimi-el, you are the wordsmith, the writer of Poems and creator of Riddles. In this I cannot best you. But this one thing I know, that the Creator is Almighty. He is beyond my comprehension and your comprehension, and not even Lucifer the Great Chief of the Angelic hosts can comprehend Him. I am a simple messenger, but have seen many things and all point to the love of the Creator and to His power. So Kimi-el, I will stand by Him, with all that I have and all that I am. He is my Creator and my Captain, and my loyalty is to him alone. I will not join with you in this.

Kimi-el: (abrupt and blatant evil) Then you are a betrayer of your own kind. You would work against the very Will of The Creator. You would keep us all in chains! I would pray for mercy, messenger, for it will not be easy for you when this is over! Darian: What has happened to you my friend? Kimi-el: What has happened, you ask? My closest friend has betrayed me Narrator: And so Kimi-el made his choice, to follow after Lucifer. Soon afterwards Lucifer came before the throne of the Creator to announce his intention to be one with God, behind him was an Army of Angels, nearly one third of our ranks, in formation and ready to fight if the need arose. I remember seeing, no longer, the joyful, beautiful face of Lucifer Chief of Angels. It was now the haughty and rebellious face of Lucifer the Adversary of God. Lucifer thought he was powerful enough to be God, but it was not to be and he and all his Angels were banished from the Heavenly Courts. The War had begun
