God, the great Creator, is a Spirit. He is allpowerful, all-knowing, everywhere and in everythingfar beyond our limited human comprehension. So He sent His son Jesus, in the form of a man, to understand us and show us what He Himself is like.

Jesus nasceu de pais judeus, na antiga provncia romana da Judia, uma terra hoje conhecida como Palestina e Israel. Ele ensinou o povo sobre Deus, curou doentes e ajudou os solitrios, tristes e desprezados. Durante a Sua vida Ele cumpriu as profecias sobre o Messias (que significa Salvador) dadas pelos profetas judeus e registradas no que hoje consideramos o Antigo Testamento da Bblia. Jesus was born in the ancient Roman province of Judea, a land now known as Palestine and Israel, to Jewish parents. He taught people about God, healed the sick, and helped people who were lonely and sad. In His life He fulfilled prophecies about the Messiah (meaning Savior ) that had been spoken of by Jewish prophets, and which were recorded in what is now The Old Testament of The Bible.

Muitas pessoas aceitaram Jesus como o Salvador que podia perdoar os seus pecados, portanto O seguiram. Outras, porm, ficaram com cime. Os judeus, professores da lei, e um grupo de sacerdotes chamados fariseus, reclamaram aos sacerdotes principais do templo em Jerusalm. Eles reclamaram que Jesus estava realizando muitos milagres, e que se O deixassem agir assim, eles perderiam o poder que exerciam sobre o povo.

Many people recognized Jesus as the Savior who could forgive their sins, and they followed Him. But others were jealous of Him. The Jewish teachers of the law and a group of priests called Pharisees complained to the chief priests of the temple in Jerusalem. What should we do? they asked. If we let Him go on this way, everyone will believe in Him and well lose our power over the people.

Sendo assim, os inimigos de Jesus planejaram matlO. Jesus tinha conhecimento desses planos, mas Ele escolheu morrer para nos salvar. Uma simples analogia desse ato que ns somos como crianas mal comportadas que merecamos ser castigadas em vez de recebermos o privilgio de irmos para o Cu. Jesus como o irmo mais velho, e atravs da Sua morte foi castigado no nosso lugar. Se aceitarmos esse ato, podemos ser perdoados, termos a vida de amor e de felicidade que Ele deseja que tenhamos e ficarmos com Ele no Cu aps esta vida.

These enemies of Jesus made plans to kill Him. Jesus knew of these plans, but He chose to die, to save you and me.
A simple analogy is that we are like children who have been bad and deserve punishment rather than the privilege of going to Heaven. But Jesus is like our older brother who, through His death, took our punishment for us. By accepting His pardon, we can be forgiven, have the loving and happy lives He wants us to have, and be with Him in Heaven in the afterlife.
