COMMUNICATION
DEFINE PORTS

To define TCP ports for the Ethernet connection, select the CPU object indicated by the red circle. Once it is selected, the table indicated by the green circle in the diagram above appears. Double click on the first row. This will open the dialog box illustrated below.

Select Unspecified for connection partner and TCP connection for type. When you press the OK button, the following dialog box is displayed. Press the OK button to continue.

The next dialog box to appear is the TCP connection properties dialog box. In this dialog box, there are several tabs.

In Addresses tab, this is where you define a specific port for the TCP connection to use.

If you wish to use Host Port Override in Vijeo Designer, then you must define a port number for both Local and Remote. Otherwise, only define a port number for Local.

Siemens TCP driver requires read and write port

The Siemens TCP driver in Vijeo Designer requires a Read and Write Port. Therefore you must have at least one pair of ports for the PLC to communicate with a target. To define which port is the Read Port and which port is the Write Port, go to the Options tab.

Select Fetch Passive for a Read port and Write Passive for a Write port. Press OK to close the dialog box.

CHECKING FOR ERRORS

Once you have made all of you changes, you must check to see if there are any errors. Go to Network and select Save and Compile. On the dialog that appears, select Compile and check everything.

Once the compile process is complete and there are no errors, close the window to go back to the Simatic Manager.

DOWNLOAD THE PROJECT

The next step is to download the project. To do so, select the CPU node, go to PLC and then select download.
