USNAS CLASS OF 2017 ARRIVING JUNE 27


More than 1,200 young men and women selected for the incoming Class of 2017 will report to the Naval Academy June 27 for Induction Day. During induction, new plebes are processed through various stations in Alumni Hall, including uniform issue, medical examinations, haircuts and learning to salute. The day culminates with the Oath of Office ceremony at 6 p.m. in Tecumseh Court. After the ceremony plebes will meet with their families for the last time until Plebe Parents Weekend, Aug. 8-11. Plebe Summer officially begins at the completion of the Oath of Office ceremony. More information about Induction Day and the new class of midshipmen can be found on the USNA website.

Last month, the Naval Academy welcomed aboard the 85th Commandant of Midshipmen Capt. Bill Byrne. Byrne is a surface warfare officer who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987.

The Environmental Divisions 2012 Drinking Water Quality Consumer Confidence Report is available at http://www.usna.edu/PublicWorks/enviro.htm. This report covers the quality of water produced on the Yard. Anne Arundel County produces the drinking water on the North Severn area. That report is available at http://www.aacounty.org/DPW/Utilities/ waterQuality.cfm. Copies of both reports will be available through the NSA Annapolis Public Works Environmental Division.
