Shroudghoul for Quake!

The Story thus far...
Its been 10 long years since you defeated the alien entity known as Quake in the outlandish dimensions of the otherworld. The alien invasion from the other dimension has been put to an end, and its all thanks to you. However, while the world was saved from a possible invasion the impact of what is now known across the world as the splipgate accident has done anything but gone away. Alerted by the existence of other dimensions, the UEG (United Earth Government) ordered a total ban on all further extra-dimensional research, and made all known slipgate technology a top secret accessable only to a handful few. Until Earth learns more about the nature of the other dimensions, NOBODY is to enter them.

Things stayed that way for a good long while, and you were sure that the horrors of Quake were over for good. You could not imagine how wrong you were... On a secret base on the terraformed mars, the extremly wealthy and powerful ITC (Intergalactic Trade Corporation) is secretly building a new slipgate facility with the intention of entering the other dimensions. While their motivations are not entirely clear, it appears that for some reason the leaders of ITC have taken a strong interest in the other dimensions, and are sending their soldiers into them for some unknown reason. This is where you come in... Being aware of your feet of heroism in the original Slipgate accident, the UEG has picked you to take on a secret mission of great importance. On a secret meeting, you are told that the UAG intelligence has uncovered a strange, almost alien place in a secret ruin on a isolated place on Earth, that contains portals to both the IGC bases on Mars as well as the other dimensions! Also found were old tablets telling the story of an ancient artifact capable of incredible power that is suppose to exist somewhere in the other dimensions! It is possible that this what led the IGC to take interest in the other dimensions... Because of the amount of power and influence the IGC wields across Earth and it's colonies, the UEG cannot confront it directly about the issue, so instead you are ordered to use the portals to enter the IGT base on your own and find out what is going on. Since this is a secret mission (and because the IGT itself doesn't want their plans discovered) you are free to use lethal force as you please, since nobody will discuss this mission afterward and it's existence will never see the light of day for the public. Good luck!

Choosing a skill level

Just like in the original Quake, you must select which difficulty you want to play on. To do so you must walk through a difficulty slipgate to activate a difficulty. Afterward you must enter a episode portal to start the game.

The different episodes/worlds of Shroudghoul!

The adventure in this game will take you across 3 different worlds, each of whom is found in their own respective episode. Episode 1: Perfect Punishment! Take on the legions of ITC on their secret base on Mars and uncover their sinister activities! What horrible secrets will you discover? Episode 2: The devil's Labyrinth Wierd alien life forms and evil creatures will attempt to hunt you down as you explore the outer dimension. What kind of strange horrors await you in this lovecraftian world? Episode 3: The end of Everything The final brutal episode. Are you though enough to survive hell itself? Because hell itself is what awaits you in this final episode of the game. Your odds of walking away from this one are slim..

The tools of death

In addition to the weapons from the original Quake, Shroudghoul for Quake also comes with a couple of new toys for you to play with. The Impact Hammer

After finding out how useless your axe is, you weren't unhappy to find this thing at the portal site. It has twice the power of the axe and replaces it. Perhaps not as powerful as a gun, but if you run out of ammo then at least you aren't helpless.

The Plasma Riffle

The latest developments in ITC weapons research has resulted in the creation of the Mark-1 plasma Riffle. Typically used by elite ITC troops, these energy assault riffles are devestating against almost any threat. Ammo for it can be rare, however.

The Cool new Items

In Shroudghoul for Quake, 2 new power-ups can be found and used. Trinity Nails

These magical nails will increase the power of both your Nailguns by three times! Time to do some nailing!

Cross of Deflection

A watered down version of the Pentagram of Protection. This power-up will protect you from fall damage, lava, slime/acid, drowning, and explosions. It will only give you 50% protection against direct weapons damage however, so don't get too careless just because you pick one of these up.

The things that will try to kill you

Throughout Mars and the different dimensions, you will combat both the armed forces of the ITC as well as the foul creatures of the other worlds. While the creatures from the original Quake return, they also brought some new friends with them... The fallowing is a list of many of the enemies you will encounter in the game. Note that because information about the other dimensions is limited, not every enemy you will face is listed here.

The ITC Mars Brigade

Being a massive interstellar corporation extremely rich in wealth and resources, the Intergalactic Trade Corporation has it's own private army to safeguard its investments across the solar system. On their secret base on Mars, a brigade of ITC troops is protecting the facility. The soldiers of the ITC are well trained and are armed with state of the art weapons. In addition, thanks to their twisted research and attempts to control the forces of the outer dimension, creatures such as the fiend and the shambler have been tamed and now fight on their side! So don't be shocked if they decide to release some of those creatures on you. They can be just as dangerous as any creature or monster that you might face in the game. The fallowing is what we know about their forces:

Defender

The standard ITC soldier. He is armed with a grenade launcher and a powerful shotgun. These guys are far more dangerous then the brainless zombie grunts. They can be found protecting the Mars base and exploring the outer dimension. Rocketeer

Soldiers armed with rocket launchers. Their missiles will hunt you down, so make sure you find some good cover when confronting them! They can be found protecting the Mars base.

Pyro

Shocktroops armed with flamethrowers. You don't want to be caught in small or cramped areas when fighting them. They can be found protecting the Mars base and exploring the outer dimension. Eliminator

The elite troops of ITC. These Eliminators were created by the ITC specifically for their mission of exploring the dangerous outer dimension. They are armed with plasma riffles. These are DANGEROUS. They can be found protecting the Mars base and exploring the outer dimension.

Bob

A security droid which can be found protecting the Mars base. Their small size and ability to fly can make them hard to hit. Long rage weapons are recommended when dealing with these. Sentinel

The ITC's twisted attempts at combining science with the other dimensions' magic. These machines are part organic, part machine. They serve as security turrets on the Mars base.

The creatures of the outer dimension

In addition to typical Quake monsters appearing, the outer dimension also has some fresh new horrors to unleash. Xeno Polyps

Little is know about these strange creatures other then that they have been reported to live in the outer dimension. They appear to be able to float around through some unknown means just like the Scrags. No other information on these creatures currently exists. Voreling

Small parasite like creatures discovered by the ITC recon forces exploring the outer dimension. These pesky creatures are small but fast and can often be found on ceilings and in dark corners. While not very dangerous on their own, the ability to appear out of nowhere as a result of their small size can be troublesome. Rumors also have it the ITC has brought some of them over to their Mars base from the outer dimension research and study.

Drole

Lovecraftian creatures which can be found living in the outer dimension. They attack by hurling some unknown projectiles at the player and with their dangerous tentacles. They are very dangerous and their presence should not be treated lightly.

The forces of Shroudghoul

After the death of Quake and his underlings, someone had to take control of the netherworld's evil forces. A evil spirit known only as Shroudghoul would come to assume control in the years fallowing the downfall of Quake. He has renewed his forces, who are now more dangerous then ever. In addition to his old army, some of the new creatures known to have joined his army include: Death Guard

The need for a middle ground between the weak Knights and the tough Death Knights resulted in the creations of these troops. Not as weak as the Knight, not as powerful as the Death Knight. They can be found patrolling the outer dimension and in hell.

Death Lord

Great, just what you needed. An ever MORE powerful Death Knight. These are the elite guards of Shroudghoul. They can only be found in hell. Flak Ogre

The failure to stop the lone Ranger that defeated Quake convinced Shroudghoul to upgrade the firepower of his army. As a result, the Ogres now come in 2 more different and horrible flavors. The first flavor is the flak ogre. Rather then being armed with a grenade launcher like the standard ogre, they are armed with a flak gun that fires a spread of nails. While less dangerous from a distance, they can be a problem in close range.

Mecha-Ogre

You think the ITC were the only people that were exploiting strange alien devices to improve their own weapons? Nope, Shroudghoul has been doing the same with human technology! These walking tanks are armed with a saw and a heavy nailgun. Yikes!
