Weekly Outline:
Activity session subject : Locations - Country and Town Vocabulary: Activities / songs / games: 1 1 Activities town/ country We are going to match different items into Vehicles: bus, car, taxi, train, tractor their different locations Buildings: library, school, supermarket, barn, A wordsearch with all the different buildings hen-house, windpump in town is also part of work this week. Things: mailbox, traffic light, street We are going to start to count in 2's (even numbers) and to be able to write them as well. Natural products: milk, corn, wheat, bread, apple, eggs, meat 1 1 Songs Processed products: cheese, butter We are going to review the songs of "the Animals: cow, sheep, horse, chicken, goat, pig, wheels on the bus" and "old McDonald". duck, goose Our new song for this week is "3 blind mice", Grammar: which you can also watch at home on You Tube at: http://m.youtube.com/watch? feature=related&v=x21ZNvaU_ec This week we are really going to work hard on using full sentences. This is really important and the student should practise as much as possible, 1 1 Games even if it is short sentences. We are going to play a version of 'Simon says'. Where the students should act the word given in a way they feel describes the word. Example: with "Library" the students can make a reading motion. We are also going to act out the "Three blind mice" song. Phonics After we have done our 'ag' sound family (rag, tag, bag, wag) we are going to pay a lot of attention on what we have learned so far this semester. We are going to review all our sightwords, our sound families and even our basic phonics. We are also going to make sure that we are not just able to recognise the word, but also to know the meaning or a matching picture. This is really important to make sure the student does not get confused as we progress with more difficult phonic blends after this week. By the end of the week we are going to start with out 'et' sound family (vet, pet, net, wet, jet). Review As this week is very short with 'Thai poems" and "Healthy food" days, we are only going to review our phonics as much as possible. This is very important to read and recognise and not just saying or guessing the word, especially with words who looks close enough, like "cap, can".

Notes / parent follow up: Please remember your child's homework (dried leaves) on the 3rd of July. Practise the sound family words with your child to be sure they are able to recognise the words. I will send the books home on Monday, after we finished the 'ag' sound family. To be sure if your child is competent with their phonics, you can also look at this You Tube video and pay attention to the sounds of the letters and not the letters http://youtu.be/BELlZKpi1Zs
