Alcatel-Lucent Specific Features

This section is describing in detail all the features that are implemented on request of Alcatel-Lucent and specifically for Alcatel-Lucent and are not part of the features made generally available under the maintenance contract between AlcatelLucent and Forsk [2].

4.1

API evolutions
Feature Description General API: Support for VC++ 6.0 (Microsoft Visual Studio 98) will be discontinued. Development environments that will be supported are VC++ 7.1 and VC++ 8.0. Where applicable, VBScript arrays will be supported as input parameters. Improvements in error detection and messages will be added. New HCS layers rules will be integrated into the GetSortedSignals function. It will be possible to start calculating a Interference Matrix using the API (in batch mode). This will permit automatic background preparation for the AFP. Managing interference matrices will be possible from API. Reading and writing to interference matrix data, as well as accessing the scope and context, will be possible using API. It will be possible to create add-ins that is aware of licence token utilisation.

3DF 01955 6641 PEZZA Edition 02 RELEASED

7/49

The API will allow access to general properties such as antenna height and offset, radiated power, antenna gain units, and the private pathloss folder. The API will allow you to view the differences between the current state of the document and the state of the data on the data base. You will be able to filter and sort radio data using the API. You will be able to enable co-planning features using the API, creating linked items in the Explorer window. It will be possible to create a UMTS simulation using the API. There will be a new "CalculatePoints document service, allowing you to compute the best signals on an arbitrary set on points, with no need for pathloss matrices. Add-ins will be able to request standard as well as custom services from Atoll and from other add-ins. It will be possible to run automatic intra and inter technology neighbour allocation from API. The user will be able to choose whether to load neighbours when refreshing data from a database using the API. TabularData Objects: Will have access to filed titles (as opposed to field names). It will be possible to know which fields are part of the key definition It will be able to import CW Measurements It will be possible to import Test Mobile Data

4.2

RMS: Dummy neighbours in cycles

Feature Description There is one limitation in declaring dummy neighbors in the field: 32 different BCCH. Therefore in networks where the BCCH band contains more than 32 frequencies, the final interference matrix may not be complete, since some frequencies are not scanned.

8/49

Edition 02 RELEASED 3DF 01955 6641 PEZZA

The solution is to have the possibility to create several cycles of dummy neighbor, in order to cover the whole band and implement then in cycles. Impacted Modules A9155 module, RMS module

4.3

RMS: RMS interference formula calculation

Feature Description The current formula of interference probability is performed on each cell basis, with no correlation between cells. Therefore the RMS interference matrix cannot be mixed with predicted one, due to different approach. The formula has been tuned and calibrated accordingly and can be mixed with the predicted one. Another aspect is the absolute value of the RMS interference probability which is much lower than the predicted interference matrix. In order to mix them with equal weighting factors the RMS interference matrix has to be calibrated. A9155 module, RMS module

Impacted Modules

4.4

RMS: RMS co-channel interference

Feature Description The RMS files used for the interference matrix creation are providing the C/I information only for cells using different frequencies. Therefore the final interference matrix may be uncompleted. The solution is to compute the co-channel interference matrix, as well, out of RMS files. A9155 module, RMS module

Impacted Modules

4.5

RMS: Neighbour clean-up

Feature Description Usually the neighbors in the network are increasing with time. This is mainly due to the network densification without revising the neighborhood plan. An increased number of neighbors is not recommended especially in a frequency planning campaign due to: Impossible to solve all the necessary channel separation between neighbors Too many neighbor leaves low space for declaring dummy neighbors, for RMS FP Up to now there was no method developed to optimize the neighbor plan, only one method to create one out of predictions. This feature will propose a method to delete the unnecessary neighbors based on different inputs: T180 statistics RMS Predictions Inter-site distance
