Disposition My Topic: Malcolm X VS Martin L. King Why did I choose this topic?

Personal interest I got really interest when I heard about Malcolm X because he was a Muslim and black and I got interested because I am both those things . Hearing that he was fighting for the black peoples rights did really get my interest Film When I was little I remember watching a movie about Malcolm X played by Denzel Washington. I really liked it. And I have always liked Martin L. King. I Havent actually seen any movies about him, but I know that if he did not exist the world would not have been the same. Media What also caught my interest is how the media portrays Malcolm X and Martin L. King by showing their similarities. Great Leaders ( Differences) They where both great leaders who I think made a great differences in the world

2. Malcolm X Background Malcolm X also known as Malcolm Little was born in Omaha Nebraska may 9. 1925. he was a known human rights activist. He was born in a poor family where his father was killed by racist white people because he was an activist. His mother was send to a psychiatric hospital. So malcolm had to stay with some family members. From an early start he had to take care of him self.

Religion I dont actually know what his religion was before he became muslim! So I am just going to explain how he became a Muslim. In 1946, Malcolm Little was convicted of burglary. While in jail, he was visited by his brother who introduced him to the Nation of Islam. Sometime after this and before his parole in 1952, Malcolm converted to Islam.

Goal What really was Malcolms goal was to have peace in the black society. That all blacks were treated equally. He still wanted the segregation. Method Malcolm Xs motto was known as By all means necessary which meant if someone hits you. you hit back harder. What Malcolm X wanted was to fight back the white people. He had such a strong hatred that he was not afraid to use violence.

Faith

Malcolm X believed that Islam could make everything peaceful. When he went to pilgrimage in Mekka he saw how people from all the different races were united, it gave him hope that maybe the black society in America could be saved.

Martin L. King Background Martin L. king was born in a middle class family in 15 january 1929 Martin Had a good home life except for the discrimination. He was an activist, leader of the African American Civil Rights Movement. He is also known for getting a Nobel peace prize as the youngest person alive. Religion Martin L. King was a Christian Baptist and he was also a member of The Progressive National baptist convention which means African-American believing and working for civil rights and social justice. After getting a doctorate in theology at Boston University. He became a pastor at Dexter avenue baptist church in Montgomery, Alabama.

Goal Martin L. King believed in helping the black society to gain more civil rights by doing it in a more peaceful way.

Method Martin L. king was influenced by many people and one of them was Gandhi. King used his education and his religious beliefs to fight back at the Jim Crow laws (Segregation) in a nonviolence way. He did that by studying Gandhi.

Faith Martin L. King believed that his religion could help put a stop to the segregation. He used his influence with the churches forming an organization called the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

- Malcolm X Vs Martin L. king Differences They were both born into different social classes. Martin L. King was in a Middle class family as to Malcolm X who was Poor which influenced the way he acted later on. They both had different religions and believes. Their Methods for helping the black society were very different from each other. Martin L. King who had studies Gandhi believed in nonviolence and Malcolm X blinded by his hatred wasnt afraid to use violent methods. Similarities They were both campaigning for the civil rights movement. The were both assassinated, but I dont know why the media say they have any similarities. Even though they had the same goal in life they were two very different people

Why are they both great leaders? They both had the power to influence people by talking to them, the gave them hope. The were both well educated black men who fought for black peoples rights.
