Through the roof ...

June 25, 2013

Dear CERT family, This letter comes with much joy and gratitude. Because of your faith, JESUS HEALS. Having just returned from Perus Andes there are many stories, but I want to focus on two in particular; where your faith has wrought supernatural healing. The following story in the gospel of Mark shows us how our faith moves mountains. A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven. Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, Why does this fellow talk like that? Hes blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone? Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Get up, take your mat and walk? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. So he said to the man, I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home. He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, We have never seen anything like this! Mark 2:1-12

ARIANNA

When Jesus saw their faith . . . He healed the paralyzed man

Two years ago we told you about Arianna (photo left) a two year old down syndrome child in Puerto Maldonado Peru. Arianna was born with severely underdeveloped hips, at the age of two she was unable to stand or walk. One of our team doctors said she would never walk without multiple constructive surgeries. There was nothing the team could do at that time, but to lay hands on little Arianna and pray our Great Physician would intercede.

We tried for months to get Arianna in a North American Shriners hospital. In a newsletter letter asking for help, we also asked you to pray. God never opened the door for us to bring Arianna abroad, He had a different plan The prayers of a righteous man availeth much. ... we were not able to "get her here" ... because God was healing her and increasing our faith, showing us how little we know and how big He is! We recently received video and photo proof (photo right) ARIANNA IS WALKING!

Our second story is another continuation revealed on a CERT medical mission last August. You may recall the story of Lusmilla, (photo right) a 21 year old double amputee. What we did not know at the time was, Lusmilla was run over by a train. It was tough to imagine as Lusmilla shared all she could recall. Two years ago, her job was collecting electrical payments, one day she was doing just that and the next thing she remembers was waking up in the hospital in Lima. While recovering in the hospital the next four months, she got a visit from Inocencio, a CERT national staff member. Last August Inocencio introduced Lusmilla to a CERT team, where her condition and needs were made known. Three months ago, Lusmilla received her new prosthetics made possible by your financial gifts. I asked if they made a difference. She said, before I had to have help walking, but now I am able to walk on my own. I wish I could describe the gratitude expressed in her eyes when she said thank you. In the initial story, we mentioned how some team members felt lead to help Lusmilla get an education; the reason for which she was collecting electrical payments. With Inocencios support her educational goals have elevated. She now plans to study psychology at a Cusco University and help others like herself walk through train wrecks.

Her dream will take five years of class room study and one year of residency. I asked Lusmilla
how she was going to make it down what seems a very difficult six year path. She replied, I have come to accept who I AM and am prepared for the challenges ahead. Through our partnership with Inocencio, we are trying to get Lusmilla government assistance in a public University. But if that does not happen we want to show her the love of Christ and help her attain her dreams so she can do the same for others! Faith, as small as a mustard seed moves mountains. When I ponder the many mountains God has moved through you at CERT, I wonder why at times I still stand amazed. But then again, I believe thats exactly what He wants, to show His great love. Thank you Jesus for our family, taking whatever the need THROUGH

THE ROOF.
