The 2013 Alabama Forage Conference is sponsored by the Alabama Forage and Grassland Coalition, which was organized to promote improved forage and grazing practices. Coalition organizations are The Alabama Cattlemans Association, Alabama Farmers Federation, The Alabama Poultry and Egg Association, and the Alabama Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Programs are implemented by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Auburn University.

He was the Forage Extension Specialist at Oregon State University from 1986 to 1992. He received his Ph.D. in forage management and utilization with a minor in ruminant nutrition. Dr. Charles Mitchell is an Extension Agronomist and Professor of Soil Sciences in the Department of Agronomy and Soils at Auburn University.

SPEAKERS:
Dr. Don Ball is Professor Emeritus in the Agronomy and Soils Department at Auburn University. He is technical Advisor to all four Oregon Forage Seed Commissions (Clover, Orchardgrass, Ryegrass and Tall Fescue. Dr. Dennis Hancock is an Assistant Professor in the Crop and Soil Sciences Department and the Forage Extension Specialist at the University of Georgia.

Dr. Stephen Enloe is in the Agronomy and Soils Department at Auburn University where he is an Extension Specialist whose focus is invasive plant control.

Matt McGowan is a range and pasture Specialist with DuPont Crop Protection, focusing on strengthening the presence of DuPont range and pasture products in the Marketplace and on the launch of new products.

Dr. Jennifer Johnson is an Assistant Professor and the Extension Forage Specialist in the Department of Agronomy and Soils at Auburn University.

Dr. Pat Keyser is Professor and Director of the Center for Native Grasslands Manage ment at the University of Tennessee.

A pre-conference session will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at the Sand Mountain Research & Extension Center in nearby Crossville. Those attending will see firsthand the current forage research being conducted at the center and have the opportunity to visit one-on-one with the scientists involved with these projects. A highlight will be the Forage Crop Garden being developed to showcase the various forage grasses and legumes capable of being grown in Alabama. The cost of this session will be $10. A block of rooms have been set aside at Lake Guntersville State Lodge at a rate of $82.50 per night plus tax.
