3) INCIDENT EFFECTS: a) Generation affected b) Load affected : 250 MW : 500 MW (Approximately)

c) Over loading of any line : NIL d) Over loading of any ICT : NIL e) Frequency affected 5) ANALYSIS OF INCIDENCE: Based on reports received from KPTCL, a brief analysis of the above incident is given below. The disturbance in Karnataka began with a jumper cut at HUBLI station on the 220 kV HUBLI-BIDNAL-3. There was heavy fog in North Karnataka at that time. All lines emanating from HUBLI tripped and the 220 kV station became dead. Consequently due to the tripping of HUBLI-NARENDRA 220 kV line, NARENDRA 220 kV Station along with CHIKKODI and BELGAUM became dead. TATA Diesel station feeding at 110 kV to BELGAUM tripped. The following stations went dead as a consequence of the disturbance 1. 220kV HUBLI substation 2. 220kV BELGAUM substation 3. 220kV CHIKKODI substation 4. 220kV BIDNAL substation 5. 220kV HAVERI substation At NARENDRA 400 kV Station, both the 400/220 kV ICTs tripped. At KAIGA, the 400 kV KAIGA-GUTTUR - I line (Only one circuit was in service) tripped. 220 kV KAIGA-KODASALLI tripped at KAIGA end. KAIGA Units 1&2 (only 2 units were on bars at that time) tripped due to auxiliary failure. 400 kV KAIGA-NARENDRAGUTTUR was in service. At NAGJHARI one unit continued to be in service with 150 MW. SUPA was generating 90 MW and this was supplied to GOA via AMBEWADI. The following 220 kV lines in the area were not available before the disturbance 1. 220 kV Sharavathy-Hubli-1 (Heavy fog) 2. 220 kV Narendra-Hubli-2 3. 220 kV Bidnal-ML Pura (Heavy Fog) The system was restored by 07:45 Hrs. : Frequency increased from 49.05Hz to 49.53 Hz
