YOU MUST REVIEW THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE INSTALLING THE CD ROM DATA FOR ACROBAT READER 3.01 WITH SEARCH OR THE 2000 INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES MANUAL.
Overview

This CD-ROM contains legacy Exxon's 2000 International Practices with History Files in a PDF format and a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 with Search capability. This document contains specific instructions for three modes of installation. These modes are:
1. Hard Drive

The 2000 International Practices will be installed to run from your hard drive. You will need approximately 45MB of drive space for Exxons International Practices Manual and the Historical Documents. The data for this option will be installed to the default directory C:\ IP00v14.1.
2. CD ROM

This selection will allow you to access the data from your local CD ROM drive. The CD must be in the drive for accessing the data. When this choice is selected, all of the applicable references will point to this location.
3. LAN

This selection will allow you to access the data from a LAN location after your LAN Administrator has placed it in a common location. It may be from a server or from a CD ROM connected to a server. When this choice is selected, all of the applicable references will point to this location. You will need to make sure the drive is available in your list of drives before doing the install. Your computer technical support group can advise you as to where this location will be and to make sure the drive is available to you. If you need assistance with this process, please see your local computer technical support group.
Follow the instructions for mode that best describes your situation.

DO NOT INSTALL OR REINSTALL ACROBAT READER 3.01 WITH SEARCH ON YOUR PC WITHOUT CHECKING WITH YOUR LOCAL COMPUTER TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP A free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 with Search is included on this CD-ROM for users who need it. Acrobat Reader 3.01 with Search must be run from your hard drive. Operating Files Installed Some operating files will automatically be copied to your hard drive for the overall running of the 2000 International Practices module. This includes files for setting up the Program Group, Program Icons and Shortcuts that you will use to launch the Main Screen. Acrobat's Search feature requires the installation of separate indexes for 2000 IPs, and for the IP History Documents. These indexes will be added automatically to Acrobat Reader during installation. Preference settings to open multiple PDF documents and for an expanded Search Query will also be set automatically. When the 2000 International Practices indexes are loaded into your system, it will replace any indexes installed with any prior module installations. Those indexes can easily be re-added for search functionality. PLEASE REVIEW THE TUTORIAL (PAGE 13) FOR DETAILED INFORMATION ON HOW TO DO THIS. Exxon Search Plug-In For Windows 95/NT Systems This version of heritage Exxons 2000 International Practices CD-ROM has been designed with some additional features for Acrobat Reader 3.01 (or 4.0) with Search. This includes a custom Search Plug-in which will place a button on the toolbar displaying an "Eye" icon that works in addition to the standard Acrobat search feature. The results window will display the "number of hits" per document for the searched term and allow you to "copy / paste" the results list. As an added feature for this version, you can now search selectively across the International Practices, and IP History Files. From the custom search plug-in window, select the "Indexes" button and just highlight (deselect to delete) those indexes that you want to include in your search.
