New Canaan High School Football Teams Hosts Grip It & Rip It 7on7 Tournament
New Canaan, CT - The Northwest Grip It & Rip It 7on7 Qualifying Tournament (QT) is bringing the best high school football teams from Connecticut and New York together for two-days of intense football July 12-13 in New Canaan, CT. The thirty-six teams participating in this event include several state, conference, and division champions, making this one of the toughest 7on7 events in the country. "We couldn't be more excited about the expansion of our tournament into a 36 team, two day event culminating in a double elimination playoff, John Marinelli & Chris Silvestri Co-Executive Directors of the Connecticut Grip It & Rip It Passing Championships, said. It is sure to be the premiere high school 7on7 experience in the northeast this summer. The Qualifying Tournament, hosted by New Canaan Football, starts its 6th year with a new double-elimination format. Teams will participate in pool play Friday, which will determine seeding for the double elimination tournament on Saturday. The winner of this event will qualify to play in the National Select 7on7 Championships held in Hoover, AL. Partnering with National Select gives us the credibility to draw the upper echelon of talent, Marinelli and Silvestri said. The Northeast Grip It & Rip It 7on7 Qualifying Tournament is one of 13 QTs being hosted this summer throughout the U.S. The winner from each event qualifies to play for the National Title July 24-26, at Buccaneer Stadium in Hoover, AL. The National Select 7on7 Championships presented by Under Armour is the premiere team 7on7 in the country, giving high school athletes a chance to play against the best programs in the country.
