BekahsStory On August 27th, 2011, just 5 days before she was to start kindergarten, Rebekah Tuckey and her family heard doctors say the words that no parent ever wants to hear. "We are 99% sure that Rebekah has leukemia." After a bone marrow aspiration just two days later, the diagnosis was confirmed. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, A.L.L. Without treatment, children may have a couple of months before their bodies would succumb to this cancer. Bekah received a blood transfusion, platelet transfusion and began an intense round of chemotherapy just a day and a half after being admitted to Hershey hospital. Bekah's bone marrow was filled with blast cells that spilled out into her blood stream. She was able to attain remission after the first round of treatment. Her family was told from the very beginning that the treatment for this particular pediatric cancer is one of the longest, about 2 and a half years. It would not be a sprint to the finish, rather a marathon. Bekah has gone through: 25 months of IV chemotherapy (some months having up to 8 rounds in a two week period) 54 doses of oral antibiotic to keep a certain type of pneumonia away For about 450 days, she has taken a daily oral chemotherapy pill Every week, for the past 63 weeks, on Wednesday, she has taken 4-8 chemotherapy pills for the past 13 months, she has taken daily medication for neuropathy (nerve damage) caused by her monthly IV chemotherapy, and so much more. She has recently broken her arm, believed to be caused by her bones becoming weak from the monthly steroids she takes. But Bekah is winning this marathon. And she is a hero to so many people who have been inspired by her courage and ability to still be a kid through all of this. She has a countdown to end of treatment, and as of September 21st, 2013, God-willing, she will have 43 days left in treatment.

This year, Johns Wheels for Wishes will be hosting a poker run to raise money for Bekah Tuckey.

Pre-registration will open on July 18, 2013. ONLY those who pre-register will get a t-shirt this year. NO Additional Shirts will be for sale this year, so PRE-REGISTER!! All Preregistrations must be received NO LATER than September 1, 2013 to the address below.

The ride will leave at 11:00am and head to Thurmont and continue through parts of Western Maryland and ending at the Emmitsburg Ambulance Company, located on Creamery Road for a cookout / after-party. Music, raffles and more will be held during the party so stick around!! Food will be served at 4:00pm. If you cant participate in the ride, the after party is open to everyone! Tickets will be sold for $15 each.
