PERSONAL STATEMENT JAMJAM MUZAKI, part of Application Form page 9 My concern on public policy started from school in show

w with getting involved in the organization and continued on campus as activist in student council. On campus I founded the student activity unit of Intellectual Development and Student Leadership in Indonesia University of Education. After Aceh Tsunami and Earthquake 2004, I was sent along with 20 students from Bandung to response the impact of disaster especially in services the education in Mata Ie refugee camp, Aceh Besar. I founded the Consortium of Education and Community Development in that camp as the secretary. The main activity of that consortium is to synchronize the activity held by the organizations/institution that had education services and make the effort to fulfill the child right while staying in camp/shelter. On my return from Aceh, I joined Perkumpulan Keluarga Peduli Pendidikan (KerLiP) and started campaign and advocacy activities, developing the Independent-Child Education concept. I started in local level in Bandung city. I had gotten involved in campaign and advocacy of Education for All (EFA), facilitation of children on street, education services and advocacy on children in conflict with the law, including with discussion forums to solve education problems in Bandung, to encourage the Regulation on Teachers and Lecturers (Regulation no. 14/2005), reviewing the competency-based curriculum, reviewing the regulation of national standard of education and Facilitating National Examination Victim and filing Citizen Law Suit on National Exam. My activities in Perkumpulan KerLiP and other NGO in Bandung, other city in west java (Cianjur, Bandung Regency,Bandung Barat, Cimahi, Garut, Tasikmalaya and Ciamis ) have given me many experiences to analyze the situation of child right to education, learning some analyzing tool such as Budget Tracking, Media Tracking, Policy Analyses, SWOT, Logical framework analyses and SOAR. I have learned many paradigm such as right based activity, child-right protection, Gender mainstreaming, right to education, and appreciative inquiry. I have also learned facilitating skill in community development, to be think-tank in policy-making, bridging between the result in community level and policy maker. Since 2010 I have gained experiences in national level as a technical assistant and consultant in Oxfam GB, Terre des homes, Ministry of Empowerment and Child Protection, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Religion Affair, The World Bank, Australia Indonesia Facility for Disaster Reduction (AIFDR) and National Agency for Disaster Management. I was also one of the founders of National Secretariat of Safe School whose goal was to encourage the campaign and advocacy of safe school implementation in Indonesia. There are three strategy to, synchronization of policy and program, increasing public participation especially children, and institutionalization of the DRR activity. And now I have the idea to synchronize several initiatives that reach schools in health aspect (School of healt), environment (School of Adiwiyata), child protection (Child-friendly School), disaster management aspect (Safe School), and other initiatives to fulfill child-rights. Although I graduated from science program, I had many experiences to encourage the fulfillment and the protection of child right in education, environment and disaster management sector in local, regional and national level. With the study in SGPP, I wish to improve my capacity on public policy area and support my professionalism.
