IMDUR Pg. 523 Antianginal, vasodilator Prescribed: Usual: 5 mg q 2-3 hr, prn

Drug Interactions: Norepinephrine, antihypertensives, calcium channel blockers, opioids analgesics, aspirin, sympathomimetics, alcohol Adverse Reactions: Confusion, dizziness, insomnia, orthostatic hypotension, peripheral edema, tachycardia, ab pain, diarrhea, pneumonia Nursing Implications: -Caution: hypovolemia, mild hypotension -Give 1 hr before/2 hr after meals -Can experience daily headaches from vasodilatation, can give acetaminophen -Abrupt D/C can cause angina, increase risk of MI Patient Teaching: -Teach s/s of angina (chest pain, fullness, nausea) -Dont crush E.R. tablets
