Holy Spirit Province PROVINCIAL NEWSLETTER

Date 18/07/13 Edition 031/2013

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends in the Passionist Family, Provincial Visitation This week I began the official visits the Provincial must make once each year to each of our Passionist communities. I began with our community at St Gabriel's community, Endeavour Hills where we have the pastoral care for the parish of St Paul, Apostle. The community is smaller now, with Fr Brian Gleeson, Fr Tony Egar and Fr Tim O'Toole as parish priest.

Coinciding with the visit was the presence of Fr Sugun from our student community in Boroko, Port Moresby and Fr Jose who is Assistant Novice Director of our international novitiate in Adelaide. On Sunday after attending all the masses in the parish we started the dialogue in the typical Australian way, at an RSL. Monday, Tony took our visitors to see their first koalas, kangaroos and wombats.

Within days he was Acting Prime Minister while K Rudd was in Indonesia. His Marrickville Road office soon became The Lodge, with the addition of Federal Police agents. On 9th July, John Pearce and Parish Secretary Terrey Threthowan attended a reception for the new DPM together with Fr Nicholas Bozikos from the local Greek Orthodox Church. This year John and Nicholas are forging new ties between their parishes, based on the intermarriage of many of their members.
