The first four months of 1972, I spent in America. The stay there was a sort of a launching pad back to my work in Jamaicap Immediately after my return i purchased a landroverI have since travelled 12,000 milesc Every mile was not trav. eled for mission work, but the greater amount was either dir
ectly or indirectly so. Since it is call the "Jesus Van," it
must be a blessing.

While I am on the subject, I will mention that the 'sfgns on this rover are getting paleo I cannot get these signs in
Jamaica so I will appreciate if someone would send me some. Such signs as, "Our King is Coming Again-Jesus" or "in the Beginning God." If I get too much, some can be given toother persons^.

A lady from the Methodist church was baptized recently. Her daughter would have been baptized with her, but she was

sick with the fluo This, I hope, can be done soon. Lord willing. I also baptized another young lady from the church at Grierfieldo This work is not being ministered to by me, but there have been some good looking prospects. It still needs your prayerSo
TREATMENT

There was no special treat for the children and young people for Christmas because of the rush of things. We have now planned an outing and picnic for them. In a recent pro gram at lover Hill the young people did a very fine job. We try t6 encourage them as best as possible. One of them has resufped his study for this year. Most of them were un successful in their exams last year.
SICKNESS Several of our church members are sick with the flu at

Dear Christian Friends:

We trust that you have received our last newsletter and now we are sending you this one with the pictures that we have promised and a

financial report of the months since Lushington returned to Jamaica

in May of 1972.

Before getting into the report itself I wish to explain some of the things that we have done in the past year. Lushington purchased the
Landrover on a two year note because of insufficient funds and be

cause he needed to use the cash on hand for other things. He is pay ing $100.00 a month for this two year period and so this takes a major part of his monthly support. He is in need of a mimeograph machine and also a public address system. These also will be purchas

ed by his monthly support unless someone or some group takes this

as a project. He is also in need of a house in which he can live and

from which he can teach and have as a study place.

Lush has been active in teaching, preaching, camps, calling, Bible Schools, the startingof other groups that appear to be of significance to helping the Church in Jamaica. He needs your continued support and prayers. Also let me encourage you to vnrite to him personally
and encourage him and to let him know your concern.

Please consider yourself as an important part of this ministry and know that the Lord is counting on you to reap the harvest in Jamaica. Lush couldnot function without your aid and both he and myself are grateful for your part. May God richly Bless each of you.

Dear Christian Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savi our, Jesus Chr i st. When I started this letter, we were having hot and dry wea

ther in many places. Now amidst sunshine and rain, there-is revival to plants and animals alike. There is also a spir itual warmth being experienced by many of our churches. It
is good news.
CRUSADE

During the. month of July we. had eight nights of evangelis tic services and five evenings of Vacation BibleSchool at Clover Hill Church of Christ. Speakers during, the crusade
were Brother Bob Shores from the United States, Brother

Carlton mullings from Jamaica, and myself. Brother Mullings

and his wife were in charge of the VBS.
The crusade was a blessing in many wa ys* There were visitors from the Seventh Day Adventists, Baptisis, Methodist:s, and other churches. After three bap tisms earlier in- the month, I baptized five more persons 1 nto Christ. Four perand four backsons rededicated their lives to the Lord, sliders returned to the church. Ther e was great rejoicing

on every side. Although the Devil is trying to thwart thework of the Lord, we are building on the Solid Rock, and victory is secured.
BIBLE STUDY CLASSES

A. Clover Hi 11--In one of our recent clashes there-were 32

persons present. Although these classes are attended by older brethern, young people and children, those who can

read and those who cannot, we are doing yer.y well. I am

hoping and praying that later a separation can be made

as help is provided. B. Claremont--! started a Bible study class with the Qaremont Church of Christ, about 9^-^ miles from Grierfield, where Guy Whitley, an American missionary is minister. To this time the highest attendance has been 21 persons. Various activities among our pjeople and dvfferent move
ments have made our attendance.fluctuate. Much interest

is shown by those who attend

VISITATION

I started a hospital visitation program with our young peo ple. They were.thri11ed at the opportunity to pass tracts. Straight magazine, Lookout, and other re-l igious literature.

(I can always use such material.) 0ther vi sitation includes

some who are sick at home and those jf other churches.

I reluctantly disappoint, at time% those who want to visit distant places because there is not enough roominthe rov er. It is licensed to seat seven persons, but I take up to
eleven according to the area. I mention this fact, not to make an appeal, but more and more I am seeing how much the need is for the Lord. As the Lord helps the work prosper,
more can be said.
CAMP PROGRAM

The two weeks of camp activities at Dint Hill passed suc cessfully from July 30th through August 12th. These.weeks were challenging for the adults as well as the young peo ple who were there. I am certain that the canpers were es pecially challenged by the teaching and preaching from the
Word of God. The weeks terminated with more than twentyfive persons being immersed into Christ.

It took much work-as many of you know-but thank God it was rewarding. There was much unity among the faculty of Amer ican and Jamaican brethren ach year some of our U.S. bre thren have come and helped us in a wonderful way. We cer tainly appreciate such love, concern, and effort as was
made.

As our population in Jamaica increases, many have not gone to Christian Service Camp or even heard of Christ. We des-

ire our camp program to grow-so that we-may re^h many for
Christ. A great harvest of souls is needed^
EXPENSES

Financially,

this is a very hard time for the brethren in

the Clover Hill area. Whenever there is any special funct ion', benches have to be.borrowed-, from neighboring churches.

This we are not glad to-do. Some lumber has been bought to

make about six benches, Approximate-1 y $100 (U.S..) has been

spent for the lumber, and workmanship will be- about $20 a
piece. Intentions ar^ g)io4 but means are bad, and they are
not free from other responsibi1itieso

I decided to help the Clover Hill church from what finances

I receive.' I have j-.ecei ved no meney from them since I re

turned home. Without your support, I could not be doing as

much as I have. We are hoping for better responses as we

teach them the importance of being 'self-supporting. During the Crusade, I had to borrow a PAo system^ I have since bought a small horn which cost I am still waiting to know what to do in this matter. I would apprec iate hearing from those of you who were donsidering buying
a PA. system for me.

Again I write on behalf of Lush and for our wonderful Sav

ior. First let me say that we are grateful for this oppor tunity of service. We are also thankful for the personal
letters of encouragement we have received. We thank each of you for your prayers and financial support of Lushington's ministry.

Lush is healthy and has reported progress to us in personal letters. If we are slow in telling you what you wish to know, write to us personally. With v-\;ork for both of us and full time school for me and other church responsibilities, it is hard to get these letters out on time. got married on July 25th to Miss Miranda (Rose) Hinds after

The fponths of May and June saw me experiencing many activitieso I had the opportunity to preach three nights at the Mandeville Church of Christ for evangelistic serviceso Mandeville is the capitol for the Manchester parisho (I am from that parisho) The brethren there are doing very welK During that time also I helped Brother Orlin Mankamyer by taking him to and from some of the places he needed to go in
the Jesus Vano Brother Mack, as we call him, is an old friend
of mine and the Christians here in Jamaica.

We are in the process of planning a two-week evangelistic campaign for the church at Grierfield.

Dear Christian Friends, I do believe that we all as Christians are seeing-more

and more that the scriptures concerning the end of the age are being fulfilled. This is the time for all us to do as
Jesjs commanded, "&e ye therefore ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometho" May God help us to
be ready

I have great pleasure to share with you concerning the times and: some of the happenings in the Lord*s work here in
Jamaicao First- I wi M tell of the mosy recent and largest gathering of the Churches of Christ here.
RALLY

On the 9th of September, brethren from vario us parts cf the island, had a great day of Christian fellowship at the Denbigh Fairground in May Pen located in the middle of the

PRAYER

tal and stayed for three weekso Now my sister is out of the hospital, but she is still the same distance awayo This gives us extra travels, ' and it really helps keep me busyo There is not always joy to be experienced, but there is something in such an experience for which to thank Godo
MISHAP

On August 13 my wife and tow American brethren,

slammed his car into the front bumper of the landrovero No

one was hurt, but his car was damaged

the other driver tried to make some claimo

matter is not yet cleared, but I am not worried about ito It is becoming moie and more hazardous to travel on the
roads because of inconsiderate driverso Nevertheless, "Have

Gospel, must travel;!" With Christ in the vessel, we will smile at the storm. If God gives health and strength^ the
Jesus Van will be runningo Although the price of gas has increased, and it takes much for maintenencep I know the
Lord will supply our needso

Since you last heard from me, a program

here It was officially launched and dedicated in a church meeting in Beecher Town on September 17tho The founder of the program is Delroy Brown, a Jamaican minister who has done mission work in Austral-lao The program Is called "The Institute for Christian Tra1ning" I am very much involved In this program as Director of Studies in and around the area where I am minlsterlngo You will hear more about this

Involved, this program means a step forward for the Church here in Jamaicao Please rejoice with me In this effort and pray for good results.
CHRISTIAN FELLWQSHIP

There has been an., increase in our fellowship among the brethren hereo It comes about by the increase of our vis
itation program. More churches are sharing in activities with one anotlier Many of the brethren have been expressing their appreciation for such wonderful fellowship) It is our desire and plan, with God*s help, to see it continued We
need the strength we can receive from one anothere The

TRAVELING

The landrover is proving more and more-.to ba--a-.great..as set to the work hereo Space, or lack of it, is cajising-me a little problem already, but it is not serious as yeto More of the Christians are desiring to go out into the open field to teach, and this is how we use the rovero (Concerning the rover, we will have several pictures in our next newsletter, and we will include some of ito)

CLOVER HILL CHURCH

There have been no recent additions by baptism here at Clover hill, but there should be news of that in my next letter# The end of September we had a personal evangelism clinic at the church which greatly challenged the memberSo We need more of this type of program, and the continuation of it is very much encouragedo

I am trying every effort to see that the work grows, but we must remember that we plant, we water, and that it is God who gives the increase When it is possible brethren

the work, but the location makes it somewhat difficult to have as many visitors as desired Although there are severalmen in the district, there are not many in this congragationo The special efforts of getting men from out side the community can offer much challenge to some of the

I do not have rauch.exciting news to share with you but no

effort is being spared on my part to see the work of the Lord growing It encourages me to see many of these people
who were somewhat cold about their salvation reaching out
more for Christ

I will not at this point send a financial report. My rea son for doing this is to give me some time to see the re
sults of efforts made It seems to me that I will be going

maching from what I have received. No direct responses have been made to my appeals about them, and I could still
use the extra funds.

SICK AND PRAYER

Many of the prayer requests have been answered. Most of the sick persons have improved. A young lady underwent surgery sucessfully. Please continue to pray for the work
in Jamaica in general.
