BOHOL-BUHOL: An Art Exhibition of Boholano Artists in the Metropolis By Atty. Julius Gregory B.

Delgado Chairperson, Board of Trustees Association of Young Boholanos in Metro Manila, Inc. Almost a year ago, we featured a fisherman from Guindulman who made Bohol proud after his artworks were featured in several galleries abroad including Paris, Germany, London, Vienna and different parts of Asia and the United States. The story of Samuel Penaso proves that our own artists can be at par with other artists in the country and their artworks have place in the galleries in the metropolis and the world. Last September, Sam Penaso organized Bohol-Buhol, Art Exhibition of Boholano artists held at the Renaissance Gallery, SM Megamall. With selected artists from the Heart of the Islands, Bohol-Buhol aims to highlight not only the beauty and wonder of their hometown's natural wonders, but also showcase the merry tangled colors, forms and imagery in the paintings, mixed media and sculptural pieces created with pride by its talented locals, read the exhibit teasers and posters. Bohol-Buhol featured a collection of artworks from Boholano artists Cesar Montano, Josefino Montano, Rommel Montano, Eric Catot, Guy Custodio, Glenn Lumantao , Irish Glori Galon, Jhacky Curambao, Joey Labrador, Jef Sisican, Lito Masalta, Nene Lungay, Rhants Anunciado, Ric Ramasola, Rico Tompong and and Sam Penaso. The exhibit opened last September 8, 2012 with a simple cocktails and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by art-patron Ms. Gina Benitez of the Philippine Womens University. Among those who graced the opening cocktails for the exhibit were actor Cesar Montano and his brother Josefino Montano who also joined in the exhibit. Representing the only Boholano National Artist, Napoleon Abueva, is her daughter Amihan who is herself an artist. The Boholano maestro and one of the best painters, Ric Ramasola, and his wife were also in attendance and famous Boholano director Maryo J. Delos Reyes. Members and officers of the Association of Young Boholanos in Metro Manila, Inc. also attended the opening of the exhibit.
