Course Overview
The Foundation course in Property Valuations has been designed to introduce you to the subject matter of property valuations. It aims to familiarise you with the basic principles of property valuation, understanding of valuation techniques and issues relating to undertaking of international valuation standards. In this course, you will be introduced to the property market and learn about the basis and purpose of valuations, five most widely used methods of property valuation and identifying the concepts of value used by professionals in this domain as well as recognising the situations where you will be required to carry out different types of valuation. The course finishes with the guidance on how to compile a valuation report. You will learn how to investigate and analyse data to assist in your valuations and isolate the most relevant factors to arrive at an accurate value. This involves studying the standardised methods of measurement and appreciating the importance of the relationship between lease obligations and rental income. Upon completion of this course you would acquire certain skills and competencies which would enable you to understand valuation concepts and equip you to prepare basic valuation reports.

Eligibility criteria
The course is applicable for beginners in the industry as well as those practitioners with limited experience in the field. To participate in this course you can be a graduate, graduate equivalent or diploma holder.

Administration process
Duration - 6 month (24 week) course covering 200 hours of study undertaken through E-Learning access to course content and materials that guide you through the facilities management process. Mode of study All of your learning materials are accessible through the Online Academy, RICS Trainings E-Learning platform. Before the start of the course, you will receive an email, which will provide information on how to access the Online Academy along with details of your username and password. Examination/Evaluation - You will be assessed through an online examination hosted by the RICS Online Academy. The online examination will take place at the end of the 6 month course and you will need to acquire the requisite minimum score to successfully complete the course. Candidates who fail to meet the requisite minimum score on their first attempt will have the opportunity to re-sit the online examination. The number of re-sits is restricted to one (1) per candidate. An interview may be required to authenticate your online examination result. Certificate of completion - Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate will be awarded to you by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
