Mission Statement Plants and Pillars is a group of Christian homeschooling families who seek to aid and support each other in the educating of their children. We seek to provide opportunities for students to participate in cooperative learning situations which are not readily available in a home setting, opportunities to learn from the expertise of others outside their immediate family, and a place where children can learn to interact as a community of believers. Our mission is to provide Christ centered support to homeschooling families as a whole. We are not primarily an educational or evangelistic group, though we do expect that those will be natural fruits as we fulfill our primary purposes.

Policies of Faith
1. We are a Christian Co-op. All classes must be taught from a Biblical standpoint. All parents must adhere to the following statement of faith: We Believe: a. The scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. b. c. In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service. That man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. That water baptism and the Lords Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

I commit to living out these principles in my daily life in order to model a relationship with Christ for the students. If there is a concern I may be asked to fulfill my duties as a helper rather than a primary teacher. Any problems that arise with parents or children should be dealt with according to the Matthew 18 passage. Do not gossip to others about the struggle but go directly to the person involved to resolve the issue. This is vital to keeping a healthy, God glorifying atmosphere within our group. Children and parents should exhibit Godly character, behavior and communication. There should be no rude speech or gossiping among children or parents.

Administrative Policies
The following are guidelines in maintaining a respectful and safe environment for coop and still have fun and meaningful fellowship. 1. Please affirm that your children respect the churchs property. If you see inappropriate behavior, please correct it immediately. a. There are to be no balls inside the building. b. No running anywhere in the building. c. No rough play, hitting or kicking. d. The First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Patterson Township will not be held responsible for injuries sustained on church property. 2. SICK POLICY: Please be respectful of the health of others. If your child has had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours, he or she should not attend. Please also consider that your other children may be carriers of the illness. 3. PARENT ATTENDANCE POLICY: Parents are required to be at co-op each week and to serve in some capacity as a teacher or volunteer. In the case of a sick child at home, a parent may arrange for another co-op parent to be responsible for their non-ill children at co-op. However, the following procedure must be followed: a. Contact Paula Jerome and request a substitute co-op mom arrangement. This means that another co-op mom (you arrange who this will be) will take responsibility for your attending children while you are at home or doctors with a sick child. b. Paula will be the only point-of-contact for this substitute arrangement. Paula will allow the first request but any additional requests for the same day will be denied since there would be nearly the same number of children and a shortage of moms. c. A sick child is the only acceptable reason for using a substitute mom arrangement. d. A parent can take advantage of this substitute coop mom arrangement only once per semester (2 semesters per school year). e. Other than this substitute arrangement, parents must remain in the church with their children at all times. 4. CHILD PARTICIPATION POLICY: Children are expected to show obedience, respect and attention to all instructors. If a childs behavior is disruptive or disrespectful, one warning will be given to the child. If an additional incident occurs during that class, the child will be sent to the parent. If the parent wants the child to rejoin the class that day, the parent must accompany the child for the remainder of the class.

Administrative Policies
5. LUNCH POLICY: Lunch time is a time for nourishment, thanksgiving and fellowship for both the children and the parents. a. b. c. d. There will be no eating on the floor or benches. There will be no leaving the room until lunch time is over. There will be no rough play or horseplay. Parents are responsible for their childs garbage and lunch items. At the end of lunch time, all garbage should be thrown away. All notebooks, papers, crafts and lunch boxes should be taken from the lunch area and stacked neatly near the front door. This allows the moms who are going to clean the room to begin their tasks without finding homes for all of the abandoned items.

6. Please make all payments on time. If you cannot afford to do so, scholarships are available by request.

I agree to these terms and will respectfully adhere to them.
