SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Available in larger sizes, other pressure ranges and materials such
as specified by the National Association of Corrosion
Engineers (NACE).
STANDARD MATERIALS
Valve seat and guard
Cast iron, carbon steel
Depending on the flow conditions, a check valve will either remain open or
will open and close with each pulse of the gas flow.
Housing
ANSI 125 - cast iron; ANSI 150, 300
and 600 - carbon steel
Constant-flow check valves are used in lines after centrifugal, rotary, screw,
or reciprocating compressors, if the pulsations are low enough so as not to
cause valve plate flutter.
Pulsating-flow check valves are used in lines after reciprocating compressors if
the pulsations cause the valve plate to open and close with each pulse.

STANDARD MATERIAL:
Valve Seat
Galvanized cast iron, zinc plated
Valve Plate and Spring
Stainless steel
Maximum working pressure to 350 PSIG
COMPACT-A-CHECK
The economical answer for air and
gas check valve applications where
flow conditions and allowable pressure drop permits use of the pipesized valve rather than the bellshaped housing of the Depend-ACheck
Frequently, pipe sizes and flow rates
are such that it is not necessary to
provide a full housing Depend-ACheck valve. Hoerbiger will flow engineer every application and quote
pressure drop across the valve. If acceptable standards can be maintained, the lower cost Compact-ACheck will be selected and offered. The cost savings are substantial and warrant this approach wherever possible.
SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Available in larger sizes, other pressure ranges and materials such as specified
by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.
STANDARD MATERIALS
Valve
Up to 6, valve body is machined from carbon steel unless application
dictates otherwise.
Spacers
Carbon steel casting or forging unless application dictates otherwise
Sealing Elements
400 Series stainless steel is easily installed between standard line flanges.
Face-to-Face dimensions (L) comply with API Standards 594. Face-to-Face
dimensions as listed do not apply to Ring Joint Flanges (RJF).

HOERBIGER
BUILT TO LAST
CUSTOM ENGINEERED
When you install our valves, you can be sure youve bought the best. All are custom
engineered for your specific application to insure optimum performance. Our engineers
are always available to discuss your installation and answer any questions you may
have.
HEAVY DUTY
DEPEND-A-CHECK and COMPACT-A-CHECK use valve inserts that are similar
to those in compressor valves. These inserts are available for either constant or
pulsating flow.
LONGEVITY
These are the same valves that are designed for extended life in gas compressors
where duty is much more severe. Longevity, therefore, is an inherent characteristic.
MAINTENANCE-FREE
All of these valves are frictionless and require no lubrication a key factor for long,
trouble-free performance.
MULTI-DIRECTIONAL
Horizontal, vertical or inclined plane mounting is possible since the frictionless valve
plates and damping plates are guided by a flexible center which eliminates mechanical
friction.
NO CHATTER OR HAMMER
With our thorough application analysis this costly problem is avoided.
RELIABILITY
Selecting the correct valve insert for flow rate and operating conditions allows us to
provide a product that will perform without valve flutter or downtime.
DESIGN VERSATILITY
COMPACT-A-CHECK and DEPEND-A-CHECK are designed for use in all phases of
industry from gas transmission to refrigeration to instrument air piping systems.
QUALITY CONTROL
Hoerbiger utilizes sophisticated equipment that includes the newest CNC machinery.
Strict quality control standards are complemented by the most contemporary QC
instrumentation and statistical procedures.
STOCKING PROGRAM
For your convenience many standard sizes are inventoried for fast delivery as well as
replacement parts and repair kits.
REPAIR SERVICE
DEPEND-A-CHECK and COMPACT-A-CHECK valves are practically maintenancefree. However, as with all mechanical equipment, periodic service is recommended. A
nationwide network of Hoerbiger Service Centers is available to supply your repair kit
needs or expertly recondition your valve to as new condition with rapid turnaround.
We would be pleased to submit a proposal if you will provide us with the following information. Call or fax to the Hoerbiger Service,
Inc. location nearest you.
