T.Govindasamy1, R.Gokul2 Department of Aeronautical Engineering Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College determine whether any missile or enemy flight is chasing us behind, if it going to happen then the system itself is going to take preventive measures to protect itself from demolition. The updates introduced for this system are Semi-automatic drive for the vehicle, Standard alignment for clear and easy targeting, Semi-automatic protection among the vehicles, Automatic anti-missile when locked on. GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM: SEMI-AUTOMATIC DRIVE FOR THE PLANE: In this, as usual the pilot drives the flight to the destination that is the enemy zone. During this time the control is under the pilot. But when he nears the enemy zone, the pilot can give up the control to the system which is loaded with the route map. The map can be modified at any time by the pilot. Thus the flight is controlled by the pilot at first and when the flight nears the enemy zone the control is automated. Global Positioning System (GPS) can be used to implement this.

INTRODUCTION: We are here to present the present situation and a solution for existing air-force technology. At present the pilot who is taking control over a flight has to control the drive as well as the weapon select and launching simultaneously at the war-front. During when the enemies are attacking, the pilot has to precisely come to a decision to turn a flight to any side, or up or down in few microseconds. Thus for the lifes survival the time given is only very few milliseconds. If the pilot is going to decide wrongly then his or her life would be at risk. So here we are going to suggest an alternate method for this critical situation. We are here going to automate the driving process and also we use swarm robot technology to avoid unnecessary nearing or collision of flights during the pilots launching a weapon. Also here we are using GPS to find the shortest route to the destination due to which the enemies may have a very less time to trace and hit back the air-force. In this first we are going to get the map from the satellites and trace the shortest route to the destination with much less or no obstacles. To discuss this paper in detail lets first start with the swarm robot technology and the GPS. The swarm robot technology is the technology by which two or more machines communicate with each other and finish their part of the job efficiently using this technology standard formation can be made for easy targeting and launching. Also at emergency a flight can be carried by another at some system failures. The third technology we are using is the automated anti-locked on missile when the flight is being locked on by the enemies. In this we are using ultrasonic spectrum to

GPS NETWORK: There are 24 GPS satellites orbiting around the world in which 21 are operating and the three are space satellites which operates when any of the 21 satellites are in problem. These three satellites can be moved to any position and hence can replace any of the 21 satellites. The GPS determines the location by calculating the difference between the time that the signal is sent and the signal that is received. For this purpose the satellite carries an atomic clock for calculating the accurate time. WORKING OF GPS: The GPS allows the user to determine the latitude, longitude and altitude to determine exactly where he is. At any place in the globe at least four satellites sends the signals. The three satellites, here in this case the satellites A, B, and C is used to determine the latitude and longitude. And the fourth satellites D is needed to determine the altitude. The receiver calculates the location by receiving the signals coming from the four satellites.

SWARM TECHNOLOGY: Swarm technology is the emerging technology in the field of robotics. There are many discrete units capable of working independently communicates with each other and do the job jointly. Since all the units are capable of independent there is no master/slave concept. In the master/slave system if the master malfunctions or breaks down then the whole system fails. But in this system all units are capable of taking the control itself when the any other unit fails. Consider for simplicity three units capable working independently are linked using swarm technology. They are able to communicate with any system directly without any particular unit as medium.

ALIGNMENT FOR EASY TARGETING: Similarly the aircrafts which are independent can communicate with each other. The different units are aligned so that it eases work of pilot in targeting. Consider the situation that the aircrafts are not aligned and enemy aircraft is fronting, then the first row aircrafts only can easily target the enemy, but the aircrafts behind are not able to target since the ally aircraft is before.

The aircraft carries the receiver and calculates the position exactly where it is and takes the route accordingly to the destination when the controls is given up to the system. Thus in this case economical fuel consumption is also an added advantage since it takes the shortest route.

But when it is aligned then any aircraft can target the enemy easily. Thus for this automatic alignment swarm technology can be used.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC PROTECTION AMONG THE AIRCRAFTS: In robotics the swarm technology is used to join or assemble the independent units to perform any specific task or to reach any specific destination when units separately are not able to do that. Consider the following the situation as illustration.

As a preventive measure damaged aircraft is carried to their zone both life as well as the aircraft could be saved. As the proverb says A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY GAINED if the damaged aircraft is carried to safe zone the loss is minimized and hence obviously it is gain to their side. Also the pilots life also is saved hence the fetch is double. When a fighter plane caught fire and if there is more possibility to save the plane and pilots life then using swarm technology first the fire is extinguished by the neighbour plane. Then a lock is made between the two planes and carried to the safe zone. Since the propeller did not catch fire there is no need to generate more power to carry the damaged plane. When swarm technology is used the damaged aircraft can be carried by the other and thus both the life as well as the costly aircraft can be saved. We could remember the incident that during the Kargil war one of our air-marshal who ejected out from his damaged fighter plane was killed as he landed in the enemy zone.

*assembled to perform some action *join to cross when separately cannot do Similarly when sometimes any aircraft unit is damaged by enemies the other aircrafts can carry the damaged one. Thus both the life as well as the aircraft can be saved from the enemies. Consider the situation that one of the aircrafts wings are fired and become unstable, when it is the enemy zone the aircraft cannot be landed and hence both the life and the aircraft would be lost.

AUTOMATIC ANTI-MISSILE LAUNCHING: Such incident would not happen with swarm technology. In this system too the operation is not completely automatic, the two aircrafts joins when the two pilots permit the action. First the damaged plane sends a signal to its pilot requesting whether to perform the joining process. If the pilot permits then the damaged plane sends request to the nearest plane. That plane asks for the permission from the pilot and if the pilot accepts then the two aircrafts joins automatically. In case if the pilot of the saving plane does not accepts then the damaged plane send the request to the next nearest plane. Thus by implementing the swarm technology in this way both the pilot as well as the plane with minor damage can be saved and reused after repair. The next update is the automatic antimissile or patriot missile launch when the fighter plane is being locked by a guided missile. The commonly used method for locking an aircraft is heat sensing type. In this type the heat liberated from the propeller of the aircraft is first sensed and the data is loaded in the missile so that the missile blasts off the propeller. In this case the time taken for the missile to blast the aircraft is only three to five minutes, and hence the pilot has to take preventive action within this minimum time or else his/her life would be at risk.

Thus the anti-missile launch is automated as the computers are faster than the human brain at such critical situation. For this automation the sonar technology can be used for this purpose. SONAR: Ultrasonic waves are emitted at the back of the aircraft. Transceivers emits ultrasonic waves and receive the reflected the waves and calculate the distance of the chaser. By consecutive calculation and the time interval the velocity of the chasing missile is manipulated and accordingly launches the patriot missile locked to the chasing missile. Other alternate anti-missile technique can also be used

automated during the time of enemy attack the pilot can take the control at any time manually and hence no possibility of hacking comes. When compared to the completely automatic system, this semi-automatic system is some what cheaper and also very efficient and flexible and these are added advantages. If any fighter plane goes unstable another planes carries the victim plane which is otherwise would have fall down in the enemy zone. Thus both life lost as well as the aircraft is saved, as we know that for manufacturing a fighter plane it consumes several millions of rupees.

In the above case the heat sensing guided missile is launched locked to the aircraft propeller. When it enters the region of ultrasonic spread the transceivers sense the arrival of locked on missile and first calculates the velocity and direction of the missile. When it is determined that the missile is chasing that particular aircraft then the system automatically launches the patriot missile to destroy the chasing missile. In this method, aluminum dust is ejected from the propeller, thus the aluminum dust liberates the same amount of heat as the propeller which makes the chasing guided missile to fail, making wrong decision among the heat liberated by the aluminum dust and the propeller and hits some other objects. For the automatic system, after recognizing that a missile is chasing behind, to launch a patriot missile it would take a few microseconds. Thus the incident that the aircraft is destroyed by the guided missile can be greatly reduced. ADVANTAGES: 1. In the un-manned aircraft the destination is fixed at first itself and cannot be modified or changed later. But in this case the pilot can modify the route, destination and map at any time. Thus this system is very flexible. When an advanced un-manned aircraft is considered, the pilot controls the aircraft from the base through wireless. In this case the complete communication is through air medium. Hence there is possibility for hacking the system and take the control the aircraft by the enemies. But in our method the drive though

FUTURE WORK: In the near future it can also be possible to assemble a number of fighter planes while flying using swarm technology to produce a giant aircraft with great power and capabilities and cause a great damage to enemies and dismantle the giant craft into smaller units for independent attacks after great attack. This may lead to robotic evolution at the borders rather than human soldiers. It may even lead to weapons sharing among the fighter planes in the air while flying. This virtually increases the weapon carrying capacity of the aircrafts. When the number of fighter planes increases the weapon carrying capacity also virtually increases.

2.

CONCLUSION: In this paper we have presented our views to make the air-force more flexible, efficient and powerful. The application of swarm technology in this field greatly increases the incidence for the evolution of giant flying robots by assembling number of smaller fighter planes in the air and dismantling into individuals when there is no need for massive damage. Thus with same fighter planes we can make very massive damage and also a moderate damage. By different patterns of assembling different varieties of flying robots can be produced.
