PREFACE
This is a project report is on the study of management functions of Hindustan Hing Supplying Co. This project focuses onknowing planning, organising, directing, controlling, staffing and reporting done by the company.

1) INTRODUCTION

Hindustan Hing Supplying Co, is the premier producer of Hing, Spices (Masala) &Papad. The High quality under the brand name Aeroplane to the discerning market. Hindustan Hing Supplying Co, is a well reputed firm and in hing business from last 100 years and right from outset the company acquired a reputation owing to the spreading its own trademark and hence synonym for quality and prestige in the sector of Hing, Spices (Masala) &Papad. Strict quality controls, precise inspections and quality raw material help the company to achieve customers requirements.Hing (Asafoetida) is a herbal product. It is found in Afghanistan and Iran etc. It is very essential for digestion, tasty food and it is useful in many health problems. It is used directly as an aroma agent and also used in Spices (Masala), Papad, Pickles and Ayurvedic products.

They are the direct importers of raw hing (Asafoetida) and manufacturers and packers of our hing in the regional matters in India. They are also manufacturing spices, papad and allied products. Aeroplane has trusted tradition of manufacturing quality formulation. Aeroplanes manufacturing unit in India is fully equipped with most modern automatic & semi-automatic machineries, the most sophisticated quality assurance laboratories with trained manpower.They manufacture hing for some well-known reputed companies (Private labelling) and they are also known for maintaining consistent quality standards as per the companys norms. Management is the process of reaching organizational goals by working with and through people and other organizational resources. Management is the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of various resources to achieve company goals effectively and efficiently.

2.1 PLANNING
Planning is the process of choosing the right goals and actions for an organization. It involves three steps: deciding which goals an organization will pursue, deciding what courses of action to adopt to attain those goals, and deciding how to allocate organizational resources to attain those goals. The outcome of this process is the organizations overall strategy, a cluster of decisions concerning what goals to pursue, what actions to take, and how to use resources to achieve goals. Planning is complex and difficult because of the level of uncertainty and the risk involved.

VISION What started as an idea has transformed into a reality and we at, Hindustan Hing Supplying Co. is have plans to further our vision of becoming the Spice King of the world. Our aim is to diversify into other categories of Spices to bring an even larger variety of tastes all over the world.

We plan to bring forth the traditional tastes of Indian food items into a modern packaging format and develop improved storage methods to retain the freshness. We plan to expand our network even further to reach out to an even wider client base situated all over the world.

SUGGESTED CAPACITY To assessing the proposed plant capacity due consideration is given on availability of raw materials, availability of electricity and market. The annual production of 50 tonne is suggested, the production and product-mix at different capacity utilization per annum will be as follows:

FUTURE PLANS
Hindustan Hing Supplying Co foresees the emerging market for spices & spices mixes in Gujarat & Maharashtra.

New product line of masala mixes i.e. Panipuri, Chole Masala, Kanda Lahsoon Masala, Kesar Milk Masala, Sambhar Masala will be introducing soon. The company is planning for high decibel electronic and print media campaign for strong brand building.

They are planning to introduce the concept of INSTANT MIXES like Instant dhokla, Instant idli, Instant dosa, and many more.

But in spite of all the changes that will occur in the future, there is one thing that customers can always expect from us and that is the availability of Spices having home-made quality at the best deals in the industry.

1-Raw species Procurement:

The Procurement Process involves sourcing from premium spice growing different regions in India. Our procurement team have established relationships with the farmers to ensure a high grade product while maintaining ethical, fair trade practices, and quality in mind.

2-Cleaning:

Our workers employ innovative methods to further clean and process spices as required by our wide array of discerning clientele. The equipments in our plants are used to:

Clean Mill Blend Remove Dust & Stone Remove Metal and Iron filings Sterilize The above manufacturing process ensures that the product is not only clean but within the specified physical and chemical parameters.

3-Grinding:

The raw material procured are converted in to finished goods with the help of grinding process.

4-Mixing:

Several spices are mixed to make different spices i.e. Sabji Masala, Tea Masala. Mixing process involve mixing of raw materials such as chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powdered in order to prepare main spices such as PavBhajiMasala,Chollemasala,etc

5-Filling & Sealing:

Here the whole procedure of filling and sealing are done through machineries, where species are filled into to the packets from the machines and air tight sealing is done in order to save the product from perishing.

6-Packaging:

After sealing, the final work of packaging is done in order to sell out the products in the market.

2.2 ORGANISING
Organizing is the process of establishing a structure of working relationships that allow an organizations members to interact and cooperate to achieve set goals. The outcome of the process is an organizational structure.

2.3 DIRECTING
Directing is said to be the heart of management of process and therefore, is the central point around which accomplishment of goals take place. A few philosophers call Direction as Life spark of an enterprise. It is also called as on actuating function of management because it is through direction that the operation of an enterprise actually starts. Harmony of objectives: There is subordination of individual goals to organisational goals. Direct supervision: Since there are no more superior managers, there is direct supervision in the organisation, where the workers follow the direct orders given by the manager or departmental head itself. Efficient communication: Since there are less no. of employees in the organisation, effective communication is possible between the workers and the management Follow-through: The managers and the CEO keeps follow-up on the performance of the workers not merely to keep a check on their activities but to help them in their act, to show them where their deficiency lies and to revise their direction.

2.4 CONTROLLING
Controlling is the process of evaluating how well an organization is achieving its goals and taking corrective action to maintain or improve performance, if needed. Managers monitor the performance of individuals, departments, and the organization as a whole to see whether they are meeting desired performance standards. The controlling function also allows managers to evaluate how well they are performing the functions of planning, organizing, and leading. They had started with the production papad due to lack of coordination and inefficient manpower, they couldnt keep the check on the production of papad, this resulted in ending of manufacturing of papad.But this failures taught them a lesson and the later the new as well as future initiatives are been controlled with very care so as to test the respective market and then enter in to it in a full-fledged manner.

2.5 STAFFING
The selection and training of individuals for specific job functions, and charging them with the associatedresponsibilities. The term Staffing in management consists of:1. Selecting the right person for the right post. 2. Training and development. 3. Giving proper remuneration and motivation. 4. Performance appraisal of employees. 5. Proper promotions, transfers, etc. If a new employee has to be recruited in the production department, firstly they had to undergo a 30 days training; if he finds to be suitable for the job then he would be hired. Here employees are provided with different types of benefits such as travelling allowances for the people who are in field work, bonus during Diwali, petrol and telephone expenses, Canteen facilities, etc.

For Quality measures the employees are provided with the hand gloves, masks, caps. The employees who are in production department are provided with helmets, shoes, glasses and masks for their safety. Technical staff has been appointed for keeping a check on the proper working of the machinery. Performance appraisal is done on the bases of: Number of years stayed in the organisation and Amount of production done Promotions and hike in salary is given to employees Incentives is given to employees

2.6 REPORTING
According to Kohler reporting refers to "A body of information organized for presentation or transmission to others. It often includes interpretations, recommendations and findings with supporting evidence in the form of other reports." 'Management Reporting' may be defined as "A system of communication, normally in the writtenform, of facts which should be brought to the attention of various levels of management who use them to take suitable action." In other words the process of providing information to the management is known as Management Reporting. The word "Information" refers to the data processed or evaluated for a specific purpose.

LEARNINGS FROM THIS ASSIGNMENT


From this study, we studied the importance of the management functions in the organisation. We learned that management functions are inevitable for any organisation to work properly. It is omnipresent at all levels. From the project, The success story of Hindustan Hing Supplying Co., we have studied the proper implementation of the principles of management helps the organisation to achieve their goals. We observed there is proper implementation of management principles such as: Division of work - Every worker knew what they are expected to do. There was proper authority and responsibility in the organisation Discipline was found among the workers towards their tasks Harmony and coordination among employees was found. Even if one worker is absent for a day, the other worker was ready to do his work that day.

CONCLUSION:

We conclude from this report that the application and implementation of management knowledge and experience in the real world can take an organization to its peak level of success. Hindustan Hing Supplying Company can be considered as a case or an example for studying the management principles. This company has implemented the management policies at all levels of management (such as production department, marketing department, human resource department). The strong importance and execution of management principles can be known by studying this 100 year-old company. Hence, a manager with the knowledge of organizational management can lead his/her company to the ladder of success and achieving its goals. Thus, its necessary for a manager and organization to have the know-how, importance and implementation of management principles for effective working and in achievement of goals and objectives.
