CAREER OVERVIEW & CAPABILITIES


Dr. Christopher Atang is an innovative educator, skilled in all aspects of teaching Education,
Developmental Reading, Critical Thinking, English (as a Second Language) courses. He is an
enthusiastic, warm, and caring Educator/professional, sensitive to diverse students’ changing
needs. He is an expert in developing, directing, and implementing effective pedagogy designed
to assist all learners recognize their abilities for maximum learning and comprehension. He is
able to develop, write, convert, format pedagogic procedures and training guides in accordance
with current regulations according to corporate/institutional and technical training guidelines. Able
to write, proof-read, edits, revise documents, and correlate documents to institutional guidelines.
Can develop and/or validate testing for student learning. Dr. Atang has expertise in the area of
‘on-the-job’ training - a master team-builder/player, a learner-centered educator, and an excellent
role model to colleagues and/or students.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Taught Critical Thinking, English and Developmental Reading courses to undergraduate
students enrolled in Houston Community College.
• Designed and implemented standards-based curricula for teacher education students.
• Facilitated and supported student learning based on the establishment of measurable
instructional objectives and also by the systematic approach to instruction.
• Designed and produced a host of multimedia presentations to enrich student learning
experiences and higher retention for teacher education and beginning Reading students.
• Coordinated teaching and learning activities of professional staff and students.
• Improved Teacher Education students’ Examination for the Certification of Teachers in
Texas (ExCET) scores by 20% pass rate.
• Designed a Lesson Plan Format that is adopted by Anderson University Division of
Education.
• Author of Education textbooks and numerous academic and conference papers.

2006 to present: Adjunct Professor. Teaching Reading, Critical Thinking and Education courses
in the Department of Education and Guided Studies, Houston Community College.
2004 – 2006: Authored an Education textbook.
2004 (Summer): Taught “Instructional Methodology in Classrooms” to Teacher
Education students at Texas Southern University, Houston Texas.
