Alloying concept
The chemical composition of weld deposits does not only greatly influence the corrosion behaviour of austenitic weld joints, but also their mechanical and technological properties. Our high alloyed stick electrodes are therefore fully core wire alloyed. Due to the great analytical accuracy of this concept, the weld metals are characterised by both - their most reliable corrosion resistance and their high resistance to the formation of hot cracks.
Welding behaviour
Arc performance, droplet transfer, slag behaviour or weld pool and slag control - these are decisive properties which characterise typical features of stick electrodes. Bhler rutile coated stainless steel electrodes meet all the requirements and offer complete welder appeal. Apart from their typical smooth bead appearance, they are characterised by their great user-friendliness, such as: spontaneous electrode striking and restriking, stable arcs and good current-carrying capacity minimum spatter formation, self-releasing slag, smooth and clean weld profile excellent A.C. and D.C. operability even at low open-circuit voltage (small transformer) easy to operate
Pickling behaviour
An impairment of the corrosion resistance of stainless steel weld deposits may be attributed to temper coloration, to smoke stripes or to slag residues. It is therefore crucial to remove these types of weld metal contamination. This may either be done mechanically by brushing, grinding or blasting or chemically by pickling. Due to our systematic research, we were able to minimize temper coloration and to greatly improve the pickling behaviour of welding joints. These improvements account for major savings in post-weld cleaning.
