3. (10 pts) Diagram labeled with IP addresses. Activity #3 Configuring the Routers static/default routes only

4050-515/4055-815 Lab 6 Advanced Routing Report 4. (10 pts) Network complete using static and default routes only. _____________ 5. (3 pts) What is the default encapsulation used on the WAN serial links? The default encapsulation that is used on WAN serial links is HDLC which is a stand for high level data link control. 20094 Page 3 of 9

6. (5 pts) Where, in the IOS, did you find the information? The all information will be found by typing show interface command.

7. (2 pts) On a serial link, which end has the clock rate? The end having the clock rate is DEC which is a stand for data-communication equipment.

8. (15 pts) For R1, R3 and R4 provide the routing table. Explain why you configured the routers in this fashion.

Router 1 routing table

Router 3 routing table

Router 3 is the router that it is located in the center of the topology. Therefore, it needs one router on each side to have access to the networks. Router 3 can have an access or reach all networks on the left side via router 4 and the right side via router 5.

Router 4 routing table

Router 4 has to know how it can have access or reaching all networks which are located on the left side. Therefore, in order to reach all these networks on the left side, what we did is manually adding static routers for all of these networks which are located on the left side. Moreover, we put (192.168.100.22) that is router3s interface as a default route of router 4. Activity #4 Reconfigure your network to run RIP 9. (10 pts) Network complete using RIP. _______________

10. (5 pts) What had to be done regarding the two stub networks? Why? Actually, router 1 and router 2 have to be known their gateway route due to they are the single path to stub networks. Therefore, there are two gateways route which are on router 5 and router 4. After having done these gateway routes, these two stub networks will get access to the all networks that are found on this topology.

11. (5 pts) Given your topology and your subnet addressing scheme discuss address utilization on your network. Specifically, how many addresses were lost as a result of having point to point links in your topology? Were the addresses well utilized or not? Explain your answer. There are six usable addresses and 30 usable subnets as I answered question 1. Moreover, the number of borrowing bits is five bits. Every link will be getting just 2 addresses. Each network will lose 4 addresses from the total addresses which are 6. There are 18 subnets are used regardless of getting 32 at first.

12. (5 pts) What is VLSM? Give us more than an expansion of the acronym. VLSM is a stand for Variable Length Subnet Mask. VLSM is the dividing of IPs into different sizes of subnet. It is used for subnetting the subnet. VLSM is also supported via Routing Information Protocol (RIPv2) version2.

13. (5 pts) Without using VLSM everywhere is there a better way you could have assigned the addresses? Hint: Did the pt to pt links have to be part of your address space? The way that I think it would work is trying use a different address space.

14. (5 pts) Assume that you had a default route leaving the network at the top most router. What would you have to do in order to get all of the networks connected to R9 access to the Internet?

Actually, there are three steps we have to do due to get all the networks that are connected to router 9 access to Internet:First, Router 9 has to have a default gateway to the fifth router (Router 5). Second, Router 5 must have a default gateway to the third router (Router 3). Third: Router 3 must also have a default gateway to the Internet.

By doing the three steps above, all networks which are connected to router 9 will have access to the Internet.
