HOW TO BREAK LOSE FROM BAD ADDICTIONS The world of we youths is perhaps the most interesting, the most

fruitful and the most dangerous world as we are still bubbling with energy and youthful exuberance, little wonder Satan sees this category as his prime target. Its therefore not surprising to see so many satanic acts of sinfulness in this category of Gods creation. So many youths today have been caged in one evil addiction or the other in which there seems to be no way out. Addiction according to the longmans dictionary of contemporary English means a strong desire to do have something regularly. Addiction is not just a weak bondage that principles and self discipline alone can break; it is a demonically motivated desire that requires the warfare of the spirit to break. While speaking to some youths, I found out that most of them were really willing to break loose from the bondage of addiction they had found themselves, but it seems the more they tried, the deeper they sank into the valley of addictions. When addiction creeps into the life of a person, the person find it difficult to resist evil because addictions are usually accompanied by demonic spirits which control the individual. It is therefore not surprising to see a doctor addicted to smoking even though he/she knows that smoking is injurious to the lungs. For I do not understand my own actions (I am baffled, bewildered). I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe (which my moral instinct condemns). Rom 7:15 (AMP) For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. (I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out). Rom 7:18(AMP) For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am (ever) doing. Rom 7:19(AMP) Maybe you are also in a situation like this and all you desire is a way to get out of that evil you are struggling with, you might have even promised God that you will never fall into that sin again but failed, maybe you have even cried and mourned over your sorry state but you are so much inclined to that particular addiction that the more you tried to get out, the deeper you sank.

Your own addiction may be masturbation, alcohol, drugs, pornography, illicit sex, evil imaginations and so on. I want to sincerely tell you that there is hope for you today. The first step towards getting out of addiction is by giving your life to Jesus and sincerely repenting of your sins. That is the only step upon which others rest. The bible says in 2nd Corinthians 5:17 that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away (including old habits and addictions); all things have become new (such a mans life is renewed). When a man gives his life to Christ, his old nature and habits are taken away and a new life of righteousness and holiness is imputed into such a mans life. The man is no longer servant to sin but a son of God because a measure of Gods spirit resides in him. The reason why addictions persist in some peoples life is because they fail to key in to Gods word of total freedom from sin. When you give your life to Jesus, believe and have faith in him for total deliverance from addictions. Secondly, talking to people about your addictions helps a lot. The devil doesnt like being exposed and that is why whenever a man is about to lay his hands on sin, he always look for a secluded place where no one will easily notice. Rather than hide your problems (that is what the devil wants you to do), talk to men of God about your problem and let them counsel you (although, this must be after you have talked to God in your closet). Atimes, talking about your problems to trustworthy people helps to solve the problem. Once you declare your addiction to the world, you are on course to a great deliverance. The bible says whosoever covereth his sin shall not prosper but whosoever shall confess and forsake them shall obtain mercy. Expose that addiction today and let the devil be put to shame. Lastly, meditation on Gods word, self-discipline, fasting and prayers are also essential tools for breaking loose from addictions. There is a saying that An idle mind is the devils workshop. So also, staying idle and keeping bad companies can open the door for the devil to visit you. A balanced quiet time with God is a very powerful tool for breaking loose from addiction because it helps you to have a good relationship with God. Cultivate the habit of daily studying the word of God prayerfully and be determined to overcome whatever addiction that is besetting you. Dont give occasion for the devil to

tempt you but be sober and vigilant and be spiritually sensitive as God still speaks to His children. Trust in God, put away those evil magazines, films and sinful materials and you will see yourself breaking free from those evil addictions. God is able to set you free and give you a renewed life, surrender your life to Jesus today and let him begin his work in you, and remember that whatever addiction you fail to break now might be the source of your downfall while climbing the ladder that leads to eternal life.
