ANNOUNCEMENT SPECIAL SHORT TERM COURSE

INTRODUCTION
The enormous increase in use of welding in various conventional and non-conventional applications of diverged technology by keeping pace with global competition of high-class technology for economy, safety and reliability has made significant advances in welding engineering in last few decades. The developments are primarily focused on welding process, procedure, consumables, operation control, design and standards of inspection and testing as well as quality control and acceptability with respect to service conditions. The weld joints often play a crucial role in failure of engineering structures and components unless they are prepared with proper technical considerations and care. Thus, to ensure the safety and integrity of a weld joint it is imperative to have advanced knowledge of welding engineering in the light of current international standards and recommendations on practices and specifications. The considerable developments in structural materials, consumable and welding process have made it more essential to follow in fast growing challenging applications. The worldwide forums of engineering associations and societies have given paramount importance to the advanced education and training of welders and welding engineers to ensure safety and integrity of weld. The welding engineering is a complicated affair due to involvement of several interacting interdisciplinary phenomena. A critical analysis of various contributing factors of welding leads to development of weld joint with desired safety and integrity. However, the refreshing of knowledge time to time by the advanced concept and practices of welding engineering may give confidence to the welding engineers for better application of welding in fabrication of engineering components.

according to various international standards and norms relevant to safety of weld joint.

COURSE CONTENTS The course will primarily cover the following subject matters with latest codes and practices as per AWS, EN and ISO standards. The internationally known experts and certified practicing welding engineers will deliver lectures followed by interactive discussions.
