Daily Lesson Plan 2 Subject: Class: Date: Time: No.

of students: Learning Area : Learning Objective: Physics Form 4A 5 April 2010 (Mon) 8.20 am 9.05 am (40 minutes) 25 students Forces and Motion Understanding work, energy, power and efficiency

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, a student is able to: A Master content knowledge a. Define power and state that P=W/t b. Explain what efficiency of a device is c. Solve problems involving work, energy, power and efficiency B C Master Scientific Skills/TSTS a. Carry out a simple activity in groups to find the relationship between work, power and efficiency. Demonstrate Scientific Attitudes and Noble Values a. actively participate in carrying out the activity as a team. b. appreciate the value of time by carrying out the activity briskly and being on task all the time.

Scientific Concepts: 1. Power is the rate of work done. 2. Power is also the rate of energy transferred. 3. Efficiency is the ratio of work. Materials, equipments and resource materials: Text book. 40

Power point slide. Whiteboard. LCD projector White screen

Consideration of Safety Precautions: None Prior Knowledge: Students have already learned topic the topic of application of power in form two and applied it in solving problems . They also have learnt about work and energy in previous lesson. Phase Content Teaching and Learning Activities Notes Teacher Activities Student Activities Introduction/Elic What is power? Teacher shows a picture on slide Student response to the teacher Strategy/ iting Ideas (refer to appendix 3): question. Technique: Define the power (5 minutes) Asking question Teacher ask students: Which car has more power, Whole class Q&A What is efficiency? Perodua Viva or Ford Ranger? Explain what is efficiency Resources: PP slides Refer to (Appendix 3)

Teacher ask students: What is power? Teacher ask students: What is efficiency? If you refuel the car 1 liter, the engine can be moved only 10 km. More you refuel the car, more distance you can go. How these machines work? Structuring/ Restructuring of Ideas (20 minutes) Power is the rate at which work is done or energy is transformed Teacher asks students to sit in group Students form group of five of five members. members. Students make a relation between the concepts and state all the variables involved. Students make conclusion and construct that there is a relation between work done and power. Students answer the teacher question. Strategy/Techniqu e: Question and answer Group discussion activity Resources: PP slides Refer to (Appendix 3)

Teacher asks students to do simple activity related to work done and The relationship between power. power (P), Work (W) and Time (t): Activity1: Teacher selects two students to do work to move the chair from one place to place at a given time. Efficiency is the ratio of Student which can move more chairs work has more power than student who moves only one chair.

Activity 2: Student answer the teacher Teacher selects two students to question move three chairs from one place to 42

place. Students who move the chair in short time has more power than student take more time. Teachers ask questions to the students: What is the relationship between power, work and time? Teacher ask questions to the students: How you can determine the efficiency of device? Application of Ideas (10 minutes) The relationship between Teacher asks student how to power (P), Work (W) and determine the power. Time (t): How can you determine the power? Efficiency is the ratio of work. Teacher ask student to discuss the example situation of power and efficiency from slide power point (refer to appendix 3). Teacher gives exercise (refer to appendix 3) to each group to discuss and solve the problems. Students discuss the situation in group. Students solve the task in group. Strategy/Techniqu es: Group discussion followed by group presentation Resources: PP slides Refer to (Appendix 3)

Reflection/ Closure (5 minutes)

Power is the rate at which work is done or energy is transformed

Teacher asks student to summary what they have learned.

Students need to summary what they have learned.

Students conclude the lesson by verbally stating the main ideas and relating to their initial ideas.

Strategy/Techniqu es: Whole class Q&A Resources: PP slides Refer to (Appendix 3) Worksheet (refer to appendix 4)

Summary: Power is defines as rate of work The relationship between done power (P), Work (W) and P=W/t Time (t): Efficiency is the ratio of work Efficiency is the ratio of work

Teacher give worksheet for student solves it at home and must submit on the next class.
