Geotechnical Characteristics of Rock Mass

Rock mass at SKM is of high strength, has good rock mass quality & few joints.

There is little difference in rock mass conditions between footwall, orebody & hangwall.

SK rock mass is classified as good to very good.

There are no major or regional structural features .

There are no significant ground water issues.

MINING METHOD
The mining method is Blasthole Open Stoping (BHS) Drilling For Uper level blocks, stope development is carried out at 315, 350 and 400 mRL. 315 mRL is haulage level. For creating the slot down. In the slot crosscuts, parallel holes of 165 mm diameter are drilled by ITH drill machine at burden and spacing of 2.75mX3m respectively. For making trough at 315 mRL drill holes of 57 mm diameter are drilled in ring fashion by Simba - Solo drill machine at 1.2m ring burden and 1.5m spacing. Production blast holes of 115 mm diameter are drilled by ITH drill machine in ring pattern from drill drive at 350mRL and 400 mRL at ring spacing and tow burden of 2.85m/2.75m and 3.25m/3m respectively.
