* These exploration targets are conceptual in nature, there has currently been insufficient exploration to define a Resource. It is uncertain if further exploration will result in determination of a resource. Geological modelling and or drilling is required to establish a coal resource. Nb. Uncertainty regarding the naming and correlation of Boxvale St and Reids Dome Beds coals is noted. They may be the same target or represent 2 distinct targets.

Geoconsult Pty Ltd has undertaken research into the coal potential of noncompetitive application EPC1318 for Queensland coal Corporation Pty Ltd. EPC1318 is located 20 km northeast of Injune Queenslandandcoversanareaof450km2ofmainlyplainscountry. There are no competing mining leases over the EPC. Three mineral exploration tenements overlap the central portion. Two petroleum leases overlap the eastern portion and one petroleum exploration title overlapsinthewest.ThecentralsouthiscoveredbyconstrainedareaDoonkumaStateForest.

The principle tectonic units are the Comet Platform (to the east) and Denison Trough (to the west). Sediments on the Comet Platform are gently dipping and were deposited in a stable environment. The Denison Trough is more structurally disturbed and represents a more unstable depositional environment.ThesedimentsregionallyplungetothesouthandontheCometPlatformdipgentlytothe east towards the Taroom Trough. They extend stratigraphically from the Jurassic Hutton Sandstone to the Permian Reids Dome Beds. Coal seam development is most pronounced in the Early Jurassic BoxvaleSandstone, theLatePermianBandannaFormation, andtheEarlyPermianReidsDomeBeds. ThirtyCSGandtwopetroleumexplorationwellshavebeendrilledwithintheEPC,mainlyintheeastand south. GSQ Taroom 1111A was drilled just outside the EPC in the far south, Otter Exploration drilled ten holes on and south of the EPC, BMA explored extensively to the immediate south of the EPC. 100 150linekmofseismicisrecordedintheEPC. CSGandpetroleumwellsestablishedverydeepthickintersectionsoftheBandannacoalinthewestand east. CSG Kingston 1 well intersected a 5.1m coal seam at 550m near the centre. Coal intersections in Taroom 1111A were interpreted as within the Reids Dome Beds. 5.1m and 12.5m seams were intersected at 298m and 426m respectively. BMA interpreted the coal to the south as within the Reids DomeBedsanddefinedtheRidgelandCoalDeposit. Definitive coal quality data is lacking. The Geology of Australian Coal Basins volume indicated a Bandanna Seam washed coal quality of ash 710%, volatiles 2732% and Rvmax of 0.560.61. Otter Exploration composited a 22m seam section from the Boxvale Sandstone. The composited 22m seam, raw coal analysed: ash 55%, moisture 1.32.3%, volatiles 1725%. There is no washability data to hand butwashingofthesestonebandedseamsmayproduceamarketableproduct.

EPC1318RidgelandNorth PreviousExploration Several phases of early geological investigation and exploration have been conducted over the EPC1318 region. Early exploration in the region was contacted by Oil Search Limited which drilledanexplorationwell(OLS2HuttonCreek)inthe1930stoadepthof1429m.Severalcoal seamswererecordedinthePermiansequenceabove500m(GSQPublication299). Australian Associated Oil fields N.L drilled petroleum exploration well Kia Ora 1 to a depth of 1655m, in the area in 1966 (CR2005). Coal was intersected in the Jurassic and Permian strata. The coal in the Permian was intersected at depths greater than 780m. Jurassic coal was intersected in the lower part of the Hutton Sandstone and the upper part of the Evergreen Formationatdepthsrangingfrom91mto161m. In 1975/76 the Queensland Mines Department drilled Taroom 1111A stratigraphic bore to a depth of 1206m, close to OLS 2 Hutton Creek (QGMJ 78[914]). Four coal seams were intersected from 280m to 600m, the 2 thickest intersections were 12.5m and 5.1m. Wireline logsandcoressamplesofthePermiancoalseamsweretakenandanalysed. Otter Exploration NL and Allstate Exploration NL explored the region for opencut coal on EPC279between1979 and1982(CR10783). Theinitialprogramcomprised24drillholestotest the Middle Jurassic Walloon SubGroup coals located to the south of EPC1318. Results were disappointing with coal intersections typically less than 0.2m thick (CR8592). A follow up program of 10 drillholes (ARseries) and 18linekm of seismic were completed to test Early Jurassic Evergreen Formation coals and Permian Coals. Best results were obtained from drillhole AR10 located approximately 5km south outside EPC1318. A coaly intersection 22m thick at 160m depth was intersected in the Boxvale Sandstone. The Boxvale Sandstone Member coaly unit observed in drillhole AR10 was correlated to several holes within EPC1318 (Figure9). Between 1981 and 1982 AGIP Australia explored the region for opencut coal on EPC347 (CR10349). An initial 28 drillhole program (FVseries) was conducted to investigate the coal development in the Evergreen Formation. Results were generally disappointing however coal bandsandstringersarenotedinthegeologistslogsinmostdrillholes.Densitywirelinelogsare avalible for most holes. Exploration then focused on the Permian Bandanna Formation on the crest of the Arcadia Anticline where corehole FV10 was drilled and density logged. The Bandanna Formation was found to be 480m deep with thin and split coal seams. The bestcoal seam intersection was 1.38m thick at 547m deep with ash of 16.6% and RD of 1.43. Figure 10 showsaschematiccrosssectionwhichsummarisestheirfindings. Santos Ltd drilled Kia Ora West 1 petroleum exploration well within EPC1318 in 1995 (CR29047). A Bandanna Formation coal seam, 4.5m thick, was intersected at 796m deep. A significant carbonaceous and coaly interval was also intersected in the Staircase Formation depthsbetween1350mand1600m.

The coal quality data on the Jurassic Boxvale Sandstone Member coals is also limited. The closest comparable quality results come from the Otter Exploration drillhole AR10, located outside the EPC 5km to the south. Composited raw coal quality analyses for an entire 22m intervalshowedAsh55%,Moisture1.32.3%,Volatiles1725%(Table5).Thesecoalsarehighly stone banded. It has been noted that BMA has reinterpreted this intersection to be Reids Dome Beds. Coal quality data from the BMA drilling is summarised in Table 6. The Reids Dome Beds coals are exemplified by the Cullinlaringo deposit south of Emerald. Excluding stone bands the coal is low ash, low sulphur, high volatile bituminous and high hydrogen. Both the JurassicandtheReidsDomeBedscoalsarehighlybanded.

EPC1318RidgelandNorth ExplorationTarget ThreedistinctcoalexplorationtargetsarepresentinEPC1318; 1) PermianBandannaFormationcoalseams, asapotentialcokingcoalproduct. 2) EarlyJurassicBoxvaleMembercoalyunit, asapotentialthermalcoalproduct. 3) ReidsDomeBeds, asalowyieldsemisoftcokingcoalproductorexportthermal product. The primary exploration target would be the Permian Bandanna Formation which has been relatively well defined by CSG drilling. Initial exploration drilling should be directed to the region around Kingston 1 well (outside PL), where thick (5m) seam development is present at depths less than 600m or in the east towards the top of the Arcadia Anticline, near existing Fairview drilling (inside PL). The GSQ hole Taroom 1111A implies that the Bandanna coals are missing from the section to the south of the EPC. Hence, if the GSQ interpretation is correct thereisapotentiallimittotheBandannacoalsinthefarsouthoftheEPC.Thesouthernlimitis potentially accompanied by faulting which may have raised sections of the Bandanna Coals to shallow depths beneath Jurassic cover. The GSQ interpretation supports the interpretation of theBMARidgelandDepositthattheReidsDomeBedsunderlieJurassicsedimentsinthesouth. TheBandannaFormationexplorationtargetshavebeencalculatedseparatelyasshallowerthan 600mandatdepths600mto1000m.LocationoftheexplorationtargetsareshowninFigure18 andsummarisedinTable7. A secondary target would be the Jurassic Boxvale Sandstone coaly unit established by Otter Exploration. Initial drilling should focus on defining lateral continuity between the intersection recorded in Kia Ora 1 (within the EPC), AR10 (south of the EPC) and the other AR series drillholes. SBEA depth to base of Evergreen Formation gives an indicative depth range of surface to 300m, which is supported by intersections in Kia Ora 1 and the AR series drillholes. LocationoftheexplorationtargetisshowninFigure18andsummarisedinTable7. Recent exploration work by BMA suggests that the Early Jurassic coaly unit to the south of EPC1318 may actually be Early Permian Reids Dome Beds. As such, another secondary exploration target would be the Early Permian Reids Dome Beds coals. Such a target maybe present in an upthrown horst of Permian sediments, and concealed beneath Surat Basin cover. Orientation and extent of the target is poorly understood and is based on the implied BMA Ridgeland Deposit (Refer to previous exploration section). Depth ranges (150m400m) are based on the depth to base of Precipice Sandstone. Location of the exploration target is shown inFigure18andsummarisedinTable7.
